  Friendly staff. Location good for visiting central Colchester. Free parking available for about six cars. Breakfast was above our expectations with a huge variety of choices including fresh raspberries and scrambled eggs to order - included in room price.

  The room was cold and neither the radiator in the room or the towel rail in the bathroom worked. The room was shaded on all sides by lots of shrubbery so no views and very dark. Lighting was also poor except in the bathroom. The small whb in the bathroom had a large "waterfall" tap, which if you turned it on quickly flooded over the sink and soaked the floor and my feet! Dinner in the restaurant was acceptable but breakfast wasn't. Staff overworked.
