I loved the location and the fact that the main hotel building was behind the barn with the bar and restaurant, so it meant no pub noise.. It looks very pretty and has clearly been built sympathetically with the surroundings. It was immaculately clean, even down to the net curtains at the windows. The bed was comfortable, as was the rest of the room. It wasn't souless like a lot of hotel rooms can be. The room was a good size, as was the shower room, again, unlike some other hotels where I felt like I had been stuck in the broom cupboard because I was travelling alone! I ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely. Good value, well prepared and the staff were absolutely lovely.

The smell of cigarette smoke wafting in through my open window! My room was above and to the side of the main reception doors and unfortunately someone kept going out for a smoke and seemed to be smoking directly outside the front door! I know this is my personal issue and I am super picky about it because I hate cigarette smoke, but maybe you could ask them to light up and smoke a little bit further away. That said, please don't let it put you off choosing this lovely place. It was a random set of circumstances that led me to comment!

Pleasantly surprised that keeping rooms warm is a thing in the Shetlands. Warm room, simple but hot reliable shower. Very nice. It's not like a modern hotel but felt cozy. Like staying at your Gran's but better. Breakfast was lovely and so was the lady who serves it. She gave us lots of nice conversation and helpful advise. I also like that the other tourists who stay here are totally not like the brits you find in Alicante The breakfast area is a place to hear interesting stories and pick up tips of where to go.

There wasn't a reception. Our key was on the wall with our names on and we received clear instructions via the app on how to get into our room. Honestly it worked well. But maybe having someone on site to checkin with would have been nice for some people - but if you aren't fussy about that then it's ok. I would stay again.

The room spacious yet still cosy .different rooms for individuals to have a quiet moment unique building converted coach house oozing character but kitchen bathrooms well equipped and up to date.

Beds were a little basic could feel the mattes through the sheet could have done with toppers or new mattresses. But ok for a few nights. Just a minor gripe the TV/ internet couldn't work out which kept buffering which can be frustrating in the middle of a tense drama perhaps more instructions?

The room was still in the poor condition that it was when we stayed in the same room about 6 months previously. The TV reception was bad. The toilet roll holder was still missing.
