The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

The Snug is spacious and comfortable, so great value for money. Janet and Ged are great hosts and serve a truly great breakfast with loads of choice. We were delighted with it. All the sights connected with Hadrian’s Wall are easily accessed and Ged provided good advice too.

For an alleged luxury and very expensive four star hotel the room and facilities were woeful. No dressing table, no mirror with accessible plug to dry hair. Hardly any furniture, no robes or slippers as promised. Small bed, inadequate toiletries (I got a lecture from the member of staff from whom I politely requested more), budget hospitality tray and no complementary bottled water even though it was provided for other guests. Room was very dark but no privacy from the public car park it overlooked so we had to spend a lot of the time with the blind drawn. We were constantly disturbed by the slamming of a service door beneath the room. Tiny bathroom, barely adequate breakfast, especially on the second day. Just a totally miserable experience on a special occasion which was meant to be a treat. The manager just stonewalled us and refused to show any empathy. He just kept saying ‘we are fully booked.’ They offered to move us to another hotel at our own expense and would only consider a refund if they resold the room and that was never going to happen.. Quite frankly we feel we were cheated and misled The description above certainly did not match the reality. I have enjoyed more luxury at a Premier Inn.

Pretty well equipped cottage in a quiet scenic location

No handrail to upstairs was extremely dangerous for us in our mid seventies and would be for any age We were only informed of the parking once we’d booked. This was awkward for us to load/unload as we couldn’t park outside No curtains in the lounge which we felt exposed and with no privacy
