- It was so nice staying in a real family home rather than a hotel! Melissa & her family were very friendly & welcoming. Everywhere was super clean & beautifully decorated. - I enjoyed being able to use a living room space to relax, the kitchen to make food when needed, & an outdoor balcony area - Lovely continental breakfast (warn croissants cereals, juices, meats & cheeses etc) - About a 20-minute walk to the university - Even though I was sharing a bathroom with another room, there was never any cross-over & the bathroom was always spotless

I was really welcomed and made to feel their home was my home. The property is really lovely, and they were very accepting of my dog as well. The position is outstanding, with a lovely garden and a frontage directly on the Thames. In addition, there are dog walks along the river towards Staines and dog friendly pub (the Swan).

I was a bit constrained as I needed space for walking my spaniel, but the house has locked gates, so I needed to ask each time I left and returned to the property. The property is also beautifully clean and light-coloured inside. So, it is not really conducive to having a potentially muddy dog indoors. I guess this is my problem, which we all managed really well.

The place was nice and you can sit outside where you have a clean bench and table. It feels like home. Everything looks new inside. I can safely say guys you can enjoy here. Wifi was fast. The facilities are good and the Bluetooth mirror was good and very convenient.

The duvet were not enough. I dont like heating when I sleep so I prefer more duvets than heating. Secondly the water pressure is too high I felt like I'm wasting water. Reduce the water pressure. Provide more sugar for tea and better coffee.

Great location in the centre of Ambleside. Great selection for breakfast, all of which is prepared fresh each morning. Room is as described and pretty comfortable & fairly clean.

I’ve stayed here a couple times now, each in different rooms and there seems to be consistent issue with the shower/taps water pressure, which I’ve also seen other people mention. Unfortunately prior to my latest stay, I received a phone call from the owners where I was questioned about a prior rating I gave for my last stay. I feel like reviews are subjective and are down to the customers opinion and in the phone call I felt like I was being interrogated for leaving a review that was less than a 10. Bearing in mind my review was an 8/10 which I believe is still a good review to leave…., where I rated value for money less than a 10. I was told that my 1 review had apparently knocked their score down which would take “a year to build back up” (which I highly doubt just from my 1 review) and if I didn’t like the price then to “stay elsewhere”. I understand that this is a small business but I didn’t appreciate the attitude of the phone call overall and think it could have been handled in a better way. I’ve stayed at several b&b’s in the area for the same price which is why I didn’t leave a perfect score for value for money, which I believe is fairly reasonable. The whole situation left me feeling slightly awkward during my last stay.

Unfortunately the mattress was hard and the pillows uncomfortable (subjective depending on preference). Despite being on the 11th floor, road and outside noise was very audible. The room was quite warm - the air con was exceptionally loud so had to turn it off. For executive room would have expected a bath or at least a power shower. I paid more for the exec room but I have stayed here previously in standard room and I can’t quite tell the difference.

Room smelt a bit damp with peeling wallpaper and dirty curtains. The cleaner needs to be more thorough as I found what appeared to be a bit of dried dog poo under the dressing table at the back which was clearly visible. Also right by the bed something was stuck to the wall which I removed. Other than the fact that the room needed renovating it was ok for the price paid.
