Church Hill House is perfectly located. Down the road from a handful of shops and restaurants, with a convenience store right around the corner and a bus stop to Pen y Pass about 1 min walk. The room was a good size with all the basics. Julie was an excellent host, really went out of her way to help out and make sure our stay was the best it could be.

ON a wet and windy day it was a joy to alight into such a tranquil location. To be greeted by such an enthusiastic bunch of people. Who took pleasure in ensuring your stay was everything you wanted it to be.

I had booked this place for my hen do weekend and had booked two separate bookings for two nights because some people were staying and others were leaving. After speaking to two people on the phone on two separate occasions before coming to the hotel, they were able to reassure me that they knew some people were staying and others were paying for a superior king sized room and others standard. I was assured that atleast one of the rooms would be available for 12pm to get ready but this wasn’t the case till 12:30. When we got there, there was only one lady at the bar to check in and didn’t seem to know what was going on. She told me I hadn’t paid when I got confirmation that I had paid days before and the balance had come out of my account and had just showed everyone the rooms we had booked. When we had asked which rooms were superior king sized and which rooms were standard (£40 difference), the lady said she didn’t know which rooms were which. When we had looked in the 6 rooms booked, we found out for ourselves that the only difference in a standard room and a superior room isn’t a bigger bed, is a slightly bigger room. As you can imagine, we weren’t impressed and expected a bigger bed as it was listed as superior king size and had spoken to the lady straight away to ask what the difference was and she said she didn’t know other than the superior rooms had a balcony. As we had booked two superior rooms, this wasn’t the case. As we weren’t sure impressed, we asked the lady to speak to a manager to request a room change as we didn’t want to pay £40 extra for a little bit more room as didn’t feel this was worth the extra money. She said she couldn’t give us her number to speak to her as the lady wasn’t prepared to resolve the situation and wouldn’t call the manager herself, her response was that she would text her.

Superior double room was dark and uninviting. The room was not cleaned properly. Door to adjoining room was letting a lot of noise through - we had to complain about this at 3am! Housekeeping was not responsive to simple requests like providing additional towels. Worst experience- a proper fire alarm went off (not test) - evacuation and entry back into the hotel was chaotic and shambolic. Did not inspire confidence.

The whole place smelled terrible after cigarettes. Also the water in shower was either too cold or too hot. To the city center it was quite far, paid 6-8 libras for uber.
