We had a very comfortable stay at the William Cecil. Our room was one of the smaller (but cheaper!) rooms and overlooked the road. However, traffic noise was not noticeable. The room was clean, beds very comfortable, well appointed and full of character. Nice touches were a small bottle of *fresh* milk in the fridge and a couple of very nice chocolate chip cookies in an air tight jar. We had an excellent meal in Milly’s Bistro and a nice afternoon tea with scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream. Staff very friendly and efficient. Excellent location at the southern edge of Stamford near Burleigh House. Stamford is a gem of a town with lots of historic buildings, churches, small shops, etc. It also has a railway station within walking distance of the William Cecil, a big plus if you are travelling by rail.

Nothing, it suited us very well. However, remember that you’ll be staying in an historic building full of character, so don’t be put off by its quirky but classy nature.

Everything from checking in, requesting an extra day's stay at short notice and checking out was a very pleasant experience. I had some specific needs that Angela's team responded to and exceeded my expectations. The room was perfect for my needs and well decorated, prepared and maintained. The food experience was also very rewarding. I had breakfast and evening meals; the choice was varied and the standard can only be described as delightful. The staff were very professional and caring which was an important element of making my stay one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. I would strongly recommend anyone who has a need to stay in the area for business or pleasure to seriously look at the Everglades Hotel Widnes, it will be a very enjoyable experience.

There is nothing, I feel that needed to be improved.

The host had left some milk, jam & butter in the fridge and bread/further butter in the freezer. A well converted former grain store on 3 levels with attractive external patio at first floor level (unused due to adverse weather). Decor and furnishings were bright and modern. We did little cooking but there appeared to be a good selection of utensils and crockery plus a dishwasher and modern eye-level cooker. Hot water was plentiful. Location was excellent, being just off the High Street, but surprisingly quiet.

The accommodation offers two bedroom areas. The one on the top floor is approached by very steep stairs so not suitable for the less agile. The sofa bed was more suited for a child, but then I am used to a very firm mattress. The Booking.com description was accurate so not unexpected. The milk left by the host went off after a couple of days as the fridge setting had been left on 1, presumably an economy measure while unoccupied. Only other (minor) issues: both larger kitchen knives needed sharpening; a draining rack would have been useful (we only had breakfast in the cottage so washed up in the sink whereas I expect most occupants would use the dishwasher): although the host had provided clear directions, and we were using Google maps, we still had several attempts to find the cottage as some landmarks referred to were not visible (e.g. the Clock Tower was swathed in scaffolding!).

This is a nice one bedroom apartment located near York Minster and Goodramgate. There were lots of great restaurants nearby and Shambles was just a 5 minute walk. Looked for the hotel with the mini fridge and the heater and this place exceeded my expectations. Staffs were accommodating. Will come back again!

It was so handy both for the Tube and our daughter’s home. It was splendidly clean, remarkably comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The decor was good and the breakfast delicious and well priced.

73 and 78 years old put in the smallest room at the very top of the house. Only 1 chair between us. Television was tiny so couldn't see or hear very well, subtitle too small as so far away from bed. No use asking to change room as fully booked. Website gave the impression of a communal lounge which must have been changed to accommodation.
