Positive section of review
It is a lovely characterful property not far from the centre of Lichfield. Our room was huge and very comfortable with a large bathroom ensuite. It was exactly what we hoped for. The busy pedestrianised city centre with it's many restaurants was only 3 minuteswalk away and the magnificent Cathedral Close less than 10 minutes walk. And Breakfast was really great including the local oatcake which turned out to be a country cousin to a French crepe. Our evening meal at an Italian Restaurant was very good and a lovely short walk from our beds.

I couldn't get the nexpresso working properly but that was probably 😅 simply my failings with technology. There was a wedding on downstairs when we arrived. There were staff and a bar. But when we got back from a walk around the city centre including the Cathedral they weren't able to sell us a couple of drinks not even soft drinks. If it were possible to improve on this it would be even more wonderful at St John's House. A self service possibility perhaps????

Nice quiet area and nice home and very clean. Well furnished room and decor, supplied with tea and coffee and water with a kettle. There was an iron and iron board and TV and access to Wi-Fi. Bed was very comfortable. Small desk and chair available to use also and clear instrutions all over the house and bedroom. No access to kitchen, but that is OK you can take your snacks and there are places to eat around the area.

The other person in Bedroom 2 was very noisy and banging about, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. But otherwise I was OK, kept my door locked and left very early in the morning. But this was nothing to do with the host, some people are just heavy footed.

The room was clean and tidy. The staff was very friendly and food was great! The gym setting is nice and there was a beautiful old style church next to the hotel. Shuttle pays £5 per person and gets north and south terminals very regularly. Will definitely come back for future stays where we will have to connect on other flights as it is near to the airport

A lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and fresh. In the room the had certainly paid attention to details which is really appriciated. If you want to stay in a bit more quiet part of Brighton but still by the sea this is perfect. It is also easy to access the central parts of Brighton by bus.

The bed was squeaky and you could feel the steel through the matress. Another thicker matress on top of that would have made it more comfortable. The breakfastbuffé was meagre. Rolls, crossiants and fruit would have made it more attractive. The were three thin stick of cheese and three slices of ham. Hardly enough to serve all the guests.

The facilities for casual dinning etc were excellent. We enjoyed our meals on return from the Ascot Racing. Very good staff, friendly and helpful. Good selection of salads, sandwiches and snacks. Soup - particularly good.

We had to do a little washing and knew it was bad weather. A clothes airer would have been great as we couldn’t use the washing line. Also for traveler’s or weekenders, you must provide your own washing powder and milk . Non provided.
