How does it work?

  • 1

    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

  • 2

    Followed by a trip

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff are and more.

  • And finally, a review

    And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

Room was a good size and the hotel was in a good location to access Windermere. Breakfast was mixed., good on the first morning but poor on the second one. Good sized bathroom and decent car parking. One member of staff was excellent and tried to help us as best as possible. I wish I had taken his name to credit him for his effort.

Receptionist seemed disinterested. When we arrived she simply took us to the room gave us the keys and told us the times for breakfast. Didn't explain what the second key was for, which doors it could be used on for late night entry, hotel policies or anything else. Same at breakfast with no information given to us. We didn't realise where the toaster was at first and had to point that out to another couple. Breakfast is ordered the night before on a card. My wife ordered a full English on both days and indicated on the card that she didn't want beans or black pudding, but got them anyway. Surely a waste for a hotel purporting to persue environmentally sustainability via it's bath towel policy. We both had full English on the second day and the poached eggs were rock hard, and black pudding overcooked and dry. Bathroom smelt musty and no hook on the back of the door to hang towels or wash bags from. There was a towel radiator but a hook is useful for a number of things and to us it seemed an oversight not to have one. The bedroom had a peculiar large round mirror, rather like one of those to assist vehicles coming out from blind spots. This was no use at all and not much of an ornament. Also a clock that didn't work. Not really sure of the point of this? There was no wardrobe just an open rail hanger. Again there was room for a wardrobe so why not put one in? Also there was green light on all night above the door which kind of lit up the whole bedroom in the dark. I understand that this is a safety measure but I have never come across this before and to say the least it was annoying. Dinner was a mixed bag. On the first night mine was good, black pudding wellington starter and blade of beef. My wife's salmon starter was OK but her main of Monkfish scampi was appalling. Four measly overcooked pieces of scampi in breadcrumbs, weird flat chips that tasted dry, and dry tasting garden pea mash all for £23.

The property was nice overall with a nice bar/restaurant. I believed I may have left something behind after checkout and when I called the hotel, the reception staff and housekeeping staff were very helpful trying to locate it. The room was clean and comfortable

Some facilities were starting to slightly show their age. I was put in a joined room which was only separated by a door from the adjacent room (room 118 and 117) which meant I could hear everything from the room next door, even quiet talking. It was pretty expensive for what it was.

Still to this day I’m waiting for my deposit back, I’ve had to go through booking.com to get it back. On the day of check in the host didn’t reply on how to check in and get the keys I had to go through booking.com before they answered which meant checking in 3 hours later than i actually wanted too. TV didn’t work and host didn’t reply when I asked how to get it to work as they’re was no signal on it.
