1. Check-in: This was not mentioned in the paperwork but the check-in was by mobile phone to a receptionist who was in some other building, somewhere else, whilst I was at the front door (so much for 'We're looking forward to seeing you' - there was nobody there!). Fortunately I had my mobile with me! However, the accommodation is on the Cambridge ring road and trying to hold a mobile phone conversation (to get the code for the key safe) with the constant traffic on a busy afternoon was very difficult. This should have been explained during the booking process. 2. "Private shower": I thought I'd booked an en-suite room thought the paperwork said "Private shower". I took this to be a fancy way of saying en-suite. No! I had to phone the receptionist (again), who explained that my facilities were in the room on the other side of the corridor. Not very private if you have to get up during the night. The door to said facilities said "Private" and the receptionist told me that I had the only key - except that there was no lock on the door (only the usual bathroom bolt on the inside of the door). Anybody could have used it. Not private! 3. Noise: There was no mention when booking but there is a communal living room. The booking did say that the place is not suitable for stag/hen parties, etc., and the rules in my room stated that there was a noise curfew after 10 pm. However, there was nobody there to enforce it. Other residents returned after midnight and socialised loudly in the communal room and the hallway, and the person in the room beneath me was in and out of their room every few minutes, leaving the spring-loaded door to bang shut behind them. I gave up counting the bangs when I reached 30 of them, and it was not yet 3 am. They finally went to bed after 5 am! Oh, and when I got back that night I found the main light in my room was not working. Fortunately the bedside light worked.
