Positive section of review
Eagle Cottage has all the convenience of a modern home with the style and features of a historic cottage. It is very centrally located, with an easy 10 minute walk into town. Located up one flight of stairs, at the back of another building, it was quiet and peaceful with a nice outlook. We particularly liked the coat rack and bench in the front hall - easy to remove shoes and jackets. The bathroom and kitchen are modern, stylish and spacious, with everything we needed, including dishwasher and washing machine. Central heating was easy to use. Hosts were quick to respond to queries.

We had a large nicely decorated/furnished double aspect room with a large bathroom and walk in shower and one window looked out to the river The room was exceptionally quiet given that it was above the restaurant and one window faced the main road. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was easy to control in terms of water output and temperature The staff were very welcoming and the evening and breakfast meals were excellent

Unfortunately we had a long wait for our cooked breakfasts as there was only one waitress and chef and a lot of people turned up at 8am

It was all fine - cannot say if there were any issues at all, though a bit troubled by the air-conditioning - perhaps it was me as despite being set at 21C, I felt cold. Also, I was expecting they would provide disposable sleepers. The breakfast was excellent.

The mattress in largest double bedroom needs replacing as is beyond terrible, please take the time to lay on the bed & you will know where I’m coming from.

The room was far too hot and the window couldn't be opened. The double bed was the smallest one I have ever seen. We had to get up in the early hours to take the quilt out of the cover, as it was too hot.

Food amazing. Hotel not so. Felt like we didn’t matter.

No towels. No shampoo etc. sheets not tucked in and when I tried they were too small. No hairdryer. Though a restaurant they do not serve breakfast.
