The breakfast was very basic. On our first day we had to leave early so we were given a slice of cake ) between us) and a coffee. On our last day, they did not have coffee, glasses for the juice or milk and bowls for the cereal when we we were there. The room was clean but quite compact but overall it satisfied our needs. The hotel was quite central to the Royal Mile.

Welcoming staff on arrival. Breakfast room in keeping with rest of lovely architecture. Appreciated the cooked breakfast choices on menu. Location so convenient for the town and Derwent Water. Shame car park is so small. Suggest people just go to a nearby side street and utilise the free parking available instead of struggle and take pot luck on 3-4 spaces.

Would have been nice to have some contact with the staff but never saw anybody....I appreciate the property isn't staffed full time, but always like a craic with hostel staff.

The location is the good point. The staff were also friendly.

It is quite run down and feels a bit dirty - in particular the carpet was not clean (looked unhoovered and a bit grimy as well) and you felt a need to put shoes on to go to the toilet. This put me off the place. Though I should also say that the sheets and towels were beautifully clean.
