Beautiful hotel in a perfect location for visiting Winchester. Our room was fantastic with a very comfortable bed, large bathroom and view into the courtyard. We chose the half board dinner and breakfast option. The dinner included two courses with many choices some of which required paying extra. As you would expect, there was an interesting wine list. The breakfast buffet also offered your choice of freshly cooked eggs, my husband enjoyed the full English while I loved my eggs Benedict.

There was some confusion in the restaurant about the bill with the waiter presenting us with a bill for 100£ despite us having already paid for the room and half board. The confusion was amicably sorted out with us paying the correct amount for our wine and sides on check out. It was not clear as our Booking showed "complete dinner”; on arrival we were told this was for two courses with sides extra.

The location is in the center and close to a train station and it helped us get around to other cities as well. The hotel itself is of a high standard. The staff is always pleasant and caring. I forgot a coat and chargers and they helped me make a delivery and it saved me a lot of money. I was happy to have someone to trust, I will certainly recommend him to my friends.

The breakfast is excellent and good, only fresh vegetables are missing. I would recommend something basic like tomato and cucumber.

Excellent position. Short walk to city centre and easy access from M6. We'll positioned for visit to Hadrians Wall , 27 miles. Close to main Park and Riverside walks. Good car parking on site.

Fly tipping on the corner of the building, above shops, cleaner hadn’t cleaned before our arrival, could have done with bigger towels, outside area hadn’t been swept (which we then did ourselves) and bin not emptied (had to ask but was done same day)
