Our stay in the castle was a journey back in time. The suite had lots of the original features and all the pieces of furniture match with the room. Fantastic landscape and lovely walks in the woods next to the river behind the castle. Very generous delicious breakfast, continental and cooked, with value for money. Lovely mocktails in the library bar in a relaxing environment with ambient music at the background. All the members of staff were customer-service focused, happy to assist us with any query we had. Durham is only a twenty-minute drive from the hotel, where you can find a variety of restaurants and clubs. We will definitely return and of course we recommend this hotel to anyone who loves unique accommodations, history and golf as it is conveniently located next to the golf club.

Beautiful room with friendly staff. One of the nicest rooms we’ve stayed in - good sized room, very clean with tea and coffee supplied along with water in the fridge. Breakfast isn’t served at the Swan but they do leave porridge pots in the room. We found a lovely cafe nearby to eat.

The only thing I liked was the convenience of being close to th ICC

When you pay to stay at a hotel such as this, you expect to have a double bed or king size not two beds pushed together. That’s what I would expect in a premier in not this hotel. The people smoking drugs where the smell was coming into my room through the balcony. The fact that the hotels ambient temperature was hotter than the temperature of the brekfast! £16 for a cold cooked breakfast!
