      There is nothing to like about this Hotel, the décor is terrible, the place is dirty, the toilet did not even flush , its in a very noisy street, the parking is terrible, down a back street and not secure as described when I called the hotel previous to booking. The bar looks like it hasnt been cleaned in 10 years, we di not risk eating breakfast. The walls in the pace are dirty and do not look as if they have been painted since 1960. Avoid at all cost. Booked a week stayed 1 night as we arrived late , left the following day with confirmation from the reception they would refund and no surprise they never have

      Everything , the hotel is not a place I would leave my dog, It is dirty, very dated and dirty just not what you expect from a hotel or would want to stay in. The Police were in reception when we arrived as another unhappy customer was threatening to return to resolve a dispute. The toilet didn't flush and the window didn't close, there is no secure parking despite what reception claims. Booked a week stayed 1 terrible night here as arrived late, didn't eat breakfast and left. Still chasing my promised refund with no communication from the hotel now I have left. Avoid.

      New manager had arrived that week and told us most of the staff had left. It was very evident there were many issues. On our first night the receptionist and one other were the only 2 serving in the full dining room. Neither had any knowledge of the wines and food and neither were trained - she randomly offered us a £95 bottle of wine instead of the £40 bottle we’d chosen. He failed to use the cork screw properly to open the wine ( apologising and saying he normally worked elsewhere!) and my husband had to step in. As another guest said it was all very Faulty Towers. At breakfast there was no jam or marmalade on offer and the coffee was terrible. They ran out of fruit and croissants at the buffet table and never replenished them. We were later told the chef and pastry chef had also walked out. The increasingly anxious and stressed manager did apologise to us and others but no real effort was made to acknowledge the state of things and offer a proper apology or recompense. The hotel seemed full and all the guests were talking to each other about the issues. One group of 4 had had their long standing dinner reservation cancelled at the last minute ( gala dinner took precedence) and were given no assistance at all to find a new place to eat. The TV didn’t work in our room. Maintenance came the next day but the problem reoccurred and was never sorted. The phone in our room didn’t work either and they failed to fix it. We booked this treat short trip as I have recently had a cancer diagnosis and surgery. It was a great shame that the hotel is having such difficulties. Luckily StMawes itself did not disappoint and we loved the town and the area.

      Very tired bathroom that required a re-fit, no plug sockets on one side of the bed. No Air con, room was very hot and had to have the window open all night which meant some disturbance. Photos are all in the bathroom FYI

      The corridors were dated and dingy, as were the rooms. Rooms tiny and in dire need of upgrade. Housekeeping need to do better. No shower gel, one bath towel for two!
