An excellently located hotel for taking in Upper Teesdale - super walking / lots of nature 'Black Grouse Lek / Wild flowers at Cow Green Res / High Force fall itself all fitted in terms of easy access to our base at the High Force Hotel. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Accommodation of a good and clean standard - light airy room. Food - again of a high standard, good variety and wide ranging appealing to all tastes.

Like the area, easy walk from the train station. Staff helpful and friendly. The bed was comfy. I liked they supplied tea/coffee and bottles of water in the room. They offered us a discount on our next stay but we won’t be staying again unfortunately!

- Looked beautiful from the outside, run down / old fashioned on the inside. - Would have so much potential if the whole place had a refurbishment, could even charge more. - Size of room. - Plumbing noises from the bathroom. - Could hear the room next to us talking and walking in their own room. - We were on the top floor with no lift. - Couldn’t keep the air con on overnight because of how noisy it was, barely slept because of the heat. - Paid for breakfast as an addition, it’s just some croissants still in the plastic packaging. Normally if you pay for breakfast you have a full english buffet. - Didn’t have anywhere to sit as the breakfast space was so small!!

We arrived for a wedding in a nearby venue. Perfectly located, very easy to get access, parking provided outside the door. Accommodation was spacious, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, very reasonably priced.

It was clean and modern inside, short walk to supermarket. Some nice views over river from lounge and second bedroom.

We had a cold rainy period during our stay and although we contacted the hosts about turning on the heating, but we had no response. It was cold in the cottage for 2 nights. Parking area very muddy, which hosts warned us about just before our arrival. No coffee plunger even though host advised there was one - we had to buy one. Double bed too small for comfort so we push the two singles together in second bedroom.

Bed too small for room. Blinds did not shut out light. Windows do not open. Not really a hotel - no reception desk, no bar, no breakfast (they do make this last clear), no lift. More like an AirBnb room. Over priced for what it is.

It was really hot as soon as you entered and the fan they setup and opening the windows didn’t cool the room down so I couldn’t sleep. And there were long hairs on the bed

I had booked a standard plus room 3 months earlier. To cut a long story short, the room was not available and we started our holiday in a room that I would not have chosen. This was very disappointing.

Somebody was clearly staying in living there cupboards had food in then and the freezer was full of food it clearly was NOT a penthouse it was grubby no music system tatty sofa grotty balcony it was just an average apartment ! It must NOT be advertised as a penthouse as it is clearly NOT ! Won't be staying there again .
