FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol features Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the Avon River. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbor, where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I registered historic Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St. Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centers at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artist Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodations, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath rail line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

Steeped in history , this city is almost like another exquisite country within England . The cost of that though means inner city old & narrow streets make road travel & parking there a challenge at times . The fortnightly refuse collections from the narrow streets are responsible for unnecessary unsightly spats . Where else do you find spontaneous pom pom trees ; community grown fruit trees specifically for picking in the park ( St Andrews) ; tolerance with kindness toward those on the margins of society ( free food outlets as per Gloucester Rd) ; art tours around the city ‘s private residences ; so many free festivals ; holiday harbour vibe ; intellectuals residing in their beautiful University city ; beautiful architecture maintained as living spaces . The independent businesses include a plethora of cafes , eateries of all sorts ; and shops & galleries providing hand crafted original items . Hobbies are catered for - Dry ski- slopes ; indoor & outdoor swimming ( the historical Lido is a delight) ; Leisure centres ; the zoo moved to North Bristol & the Urban city farm ; glorious parks ( Blaise Castle Estate ); the harbour has so much - SS Gt Britain ; M Shed, Arnolfino - Original local Art is explored & enjoyed freely . Apart from the Hippodrome , small & less expensive theatres put on all sorts of productions. My daughter went to Bristol to study , never left & we delight in visiting our grandchildren in this beautiful place . I suspect the impact of John Wesley ( visit the chapel & enjoy folk concerts there ) left the legacy of care & respect for all which seems integral in Bristolians . A city where tradition & individuality rubs along in symphony with innovative modernity . As you can tell , I love it.

The room was clean , bright and airy with just the four beds and four sets of draws , the toilets and showers were near by along the corridor again they were spotless , clean and well maintained plenty of hot water to enjoy a good shower. The Plug sockets 2 sets of two were set along one wall and covered by two of the four beds . And the two windows next to a busy road were only single glazed so the room was noisy from the traffic and people on the pavement. Over all I like d the Location and I slept very well despite the noise and the beds were to soft.

We took a walking tour of Bristol centre which was very interesting, visited the SS Great Britain which was excellent. The M-shed museum captured Bristol life very well, but we thought the small section on slavery was insufficient when the Cathedral had much more informative displays. The aviation museum with Concorde was worth visiting, lots of information on Bristol's aviation history in both war and comercial times. Lots of good food and drink choices in Bristol centre, not there in the evening but lively during the day in early May. Driving into the centre on two days was challenging, lots of slip roads, sudden turns and changing speed limits. Getting to Wapping Wharf for the SS Great Britain was the worse, went around a couple of times before getting the right turning.

I stayed at this hotel during my wife's birthday. The staff were really friendly and helpful, a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates were sent to our room on arrival with a lovely birthday card. The restaurant and the food were superb. The bar staff were very accommodating and friendly. We had excellent room service and a truly wonderful stay. We will certainly stay at this hotel again next time we visit Bristol because of its grand interior, location to the waterfront and city centre. Strongly recommended.

The staff were really really lovely. Breakfast room is more modern than the hotel which was a very pleasant surprise when we entered it for breakfast. Breakfast was absolutely lovely. The staff served us with a smile. Which goes a long way. If they could concentrate on updating the rooms just a little and sorting the bathrooms out, it would do great for them. The bath panel isn't a big thing to change and would have made the bathroom a little more appealing.

Excellent location, very convenient at Clifton. Center of Bristol. Easy to get to. I like the online check-in; it is fast and easy. The hotel business model is fantastic; you check in online and get your digital room key immediately. The room was clean and had all we needed. Thanks to the business owners for taking care of all details. Redmayne House will always be our choice when we revisit the city.

I have stayed at the Arnos Manor Hotel on many occasions now. It provides me with spotlessly clean accommodation close to my work in Bristol. It’s ideally located for work and Bristol city centre with free parking available. Every room I have stayed in has been spotlessly clean. They also provide little extras such as iron, ironing board and hair dryers in all rooms. Not all hotels provide these.
