Andover has pubs and bars, supermarkets and plenty of places to eat. There are enjoyable walks up to the Ladies Walk where you can see across the town and also to Charlton Lakes where there is a play area for kids. Andover is also close to Basingstoke, Salisbury and Winchester.

It is a quiet town very convenient for visiting Winchester, Salisbury, the New Forest, Newbury, Whitchurch and Southampton. Anton Lakes local Natural Reserve gives a good opportunity to relax sitting on a bench and watching wildlife birds. Don't forget to visit the local Iron Age history museum and beautiful St.Mary's church.

A quiet town, without much to see.

A quiet town, without much to see. The Anton River canal near the old mill and the Anton lakes are the only places worth visiting, the river has ducks and swans as well. The town has supermarkets, and a train station and the distances are relatively easy to walk, even with luggage.

Like so many towns, trade has been forced out and many cheaper shops move in. In does have regular markets. A good spot to go out to visit but Andover itself is not so picturesque as it shoukd be. I nice chalk river runs through which has not been enhanced. Such a shame. Indians,Chinese Wetherspoons and other pubs available. Went to the Siam Orchid. Very nice and booking might be necessary.

We visited Andover as were were going to the BSB round at Thruxton. There are lots of place to eat in Andover we opted for an Indian called Chilies, it was empty so were a bit worried but it is one of the best curries we have had in a while. Staff very polite and attentive. Can thoroughly recommend it. The hotel, Jack Russell Fox, which is a Wetherspoons pub chain was excellent. Staff and food were what you would expect. The rooms were clean and perfectly adequate.

Location was great,we had spent day at Thruxton circuit. Ref breakfast this was not provided and although I don't recall what was shown on booking we were expecting breakfast so this was disappointing. The recommended place they told us about at the local garden centre did not unfortunately open until 10 am Sunday morning so we had to find breakfast in Andover.

Large room, very comfortable bed, welcoming staff, free parking behind hotel, town centre location. Large windows overlooking high street at front. Excellent breakfast until 11am on Sunday. Make sure to enter postcode into your phone’s maps as otherwise can be tricky to find car park entrance with Andover’s one way system.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Very pleasant warm and friendly staff. Only downside is the noise from the town at night. Revelry carries in the night air. I can’t praise the hotel enough. Lovely room in the stable block very well equipped.

Everything! The John Russell Fox was as good as many 4-star hotels I've stayed in. Okay, there aren't all the frills, like room service, etc., but being a 'Spoons', you'll not find a better brekkie in town anyway!
