Gages Mill was the best B&B we stayed at on our 2 week trip around southern England. The comfort and cleanliness was excellent. The hosts Nathan and Kate were lovely and provided us with all sorts of local tips. They have an extensive lending library of maps and local guidebooks. The breakfast was very good. Charming historic building and grounds. Very quiet.

Great view of river and Cathedral from our room. Appreciated the complimentary drink. Thank you for the shuttle bus into town and restaurant recommendations. (We walked back). Breakfast was very good and staff were excellent.

Because of low rating (7.2) we hesitated but am so glad we did do it! This place is a 9!! The receptionist was so sweet (a true asset) and helped us with several things! Beautiful open door with patio furniture, beautiful room with fantastic new bathroom. The meal was to die for!!! Fanciest place we’ve ever stayed! Wow!

I loved the setting the fast moving Mill river the river with ducks kayakers even swimmers brrrr. The view of the cathedral the idyllic village with thatched cottages very English and the near by park.
The historic building and the brief concise crib sheet telling its history even a local ghost
I felt I had landed in a Miss Marple village.

We enjoyed Salisbury Cathedral.
We enjoyed Salisbury Cathedral. Matins and Evensong were wonderful experiences. There was a nearby pharmacy which was useful, and lovely shops down Fish Row. Also Thomas Becket Church. Salisbury was central to other sites we wanted to see, such as Bath, Wells Cathedral, Stonehenge, and Avesbury.

Very beautiful old buildings.
Very beautiful old buildings.
Some bars and restaurants look very inviting.
Too little green in general.
Everything is only stones and asphalt. There are no trees, no grass, no flowers.
The earth around the few trees in the public parking area were covered with some kind of rubber stuff, otherwise some green could have grown and apparently they don't want that.
A little green grass can be found only in the cathedral's garden.

I liked being in a city that I could get out into the country from. This made an enjoyable variety to my day as I could go to the cathedral and shops in morning and head off for lovely rambles in the afternoon. I didn’t have to use my car at all.
Salisbury is a very accessible city with lovely public spaces around the cathedral and good restaurants and pubs.

Love this town.
Love this town. Easy access to many of England's finest sites. Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral. Hire a car and travel just a little further to Bombay Gin distillery. New Forrest, Cotswolds and more. Just spend the day roaming the many shops and pubs including the historic Hanch n Venison. Buy some top quality cheese, olives, bread at the Salisbury Market
Have a run at the Saturday Parkrun
Check out some cute towns like Newton Tony(cute little pub)
Just relax and and enjoy strolling around this lovely part of Wiltshire

The staff were great but the hotel is generally run down and in need of refurbishment. The location was great though, Salisbury is an amazing place with much history etc. The cathedral is a destination to many especially from other countries.
Our room was spacious and comfortable with a lovely view over the river meadows towards the Cathedral. The hotel is well located in a quiet area about a 15 minute walk from the centre of the city. Staff are friendly and efficient. Although the hotel does not offer meals other than breakfast, they seemed keen to ensure guests were given plenty of information about restaurants in the city and a shuttle service is provided. Overall, a well run and high quality establishment - I would not hesitate to stay there again.
The site and situation are wonderful - fascinating old building (with modern additions) and picturesque riverside semi-rural outlook from many rooms and the dining room.
A reasonable walk into Salisbury, past the Cathedral.
Plenty of parking behind the hotel, although the disabled spaces to the side are on a slope and rather narrow.
Breakfast is excellent - wide choice from hot and cold buffets.
Front of house staff are friendly and helpful.
This is the second time I've stayed at the hotel, it has a friendly atmosphere and well located in Salisbury, so you can walk into the city centre and easily get onto the ring road.
The rooms are generous and have everything you need, most importantly the bed is comfortable and showers work well
The breakfast was very good with an excellent choice for those you want a traditional cooked breakfast or something a bit sweeter.
The staff is lovely and helpful and offer you a complimentary drink the night of your arrival. A very nice gesture, I must say. This hotel is comfortable and is very close to the city centre. Very good value for money
