Opening onto a terrace, The Stones Hotel is located between Amesbury and Salisbury. It has a restaurant, bar, free parking and free WiFi.

Recently stayed at The Stones hotel and I was most impressed. The location was ideal for me and really close to both Salisbury and Andover which are areas I generally frequent. I was pleased to see such a large car park at the hotel and it was perfect as I've previously stayed at city centre hotels and car parking can be a nightmare, especially as I have a large car to park. When I checked in, Claudia at the Reception was so polite and professional. She mentioned that the hotel now has a gym so I managed to use the facilities and it was fantastic. My bedroom was so large and had a really comfortable bed and the best power shower which I have ever used. I didn't eat in the Restaurant but instead I ordered room service and the gentleman who brought my meal was awesome. I had changed my mind at the last minute and wanted a dessert and he was so courteous and happy to bring this for me. Breakfast was plentiful and once again the service from the staff was spot on. It made my morning to see smiling faces from the staff who were happy to engage with the guests. I had booked one of the meeting rooms at the hotel for a half day meeting and I was glad to see that the room was perfectly setup with every piece of equipment that I needed. I've been in situations before when some hotels cant find equipment and has delayed the start to my meeting so when I went to check the setup of my meeting room at The Stones, it was pleasing to see that it was ready with everything I had requested. Apparently the hotel recently had a massive refurbishment of all their conference facilities and are due to do the same with their bedrooms so I can't wait to see what they do to the rooms. Overall, I would most certainly come back to The Stones hotel whenever I am in the area. I give it 10/10 for location, service and facilities.

Salisbury now tops our list of English cities to visit.

Salisbury now tops our list of English cities to visit. It has everything you'll find in every other city (pubs, restaurants, retail therapy) plus lots you won't. This includes a compact centre with charming heritage architecture at every turn and lots of individual shops, an excellent outdoor market in the main pedestrian square on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the truly breath-taking cathedral with the highest spire in the land, the comfortable all-day 'bolt hole' that is the Red Lion 13th-century coaching inn, and the highly-recommended 'Baroushka' Lebanese restaurant. In our experience, it's a really friendly place too.

Salisbury had plenty to do in the city and in surrounding areas. We really enjoyed the Tower Tour at the Cathedral, enjoyed visiting St. Thomas' Church, we also enjoyed visiting the Rifles Berkshire and Wiltshire Museum, my husband particularly enjoyed the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection, We enjoyed looking around the Old Sarum Castle but thought it was quite expensive for what was there. Had a lovely meal at Grillado Italian Restaurant. Buses were quite regular and the main places to visit were well signposted.

    Wonderful city to explore!

Wonderful city to explore! The cathedral is amazing and the Magna Carta is a piece of history worth seeing. The water meadow approach to the city has amazing views of the cathedral and you enter Salisbury round the back streets. Pick up an antique bargain or two in the many emporia and shop in the open air Saturday market among the buzzing crowd. Plenty of places to shop and eat and drink. Have a lovely coffee and bun under cover outside Reeve the baker in the square. You’ll love it!

It has everything - the Cathedral and Close, two museums, Montpesson House and a huge number of shops of all kinds in ancient buildings, together with numerous pubs and coffee shops, restaurants etc. It is also possible to get away from the busyness by walking by the water meadows.

I loved to visit the Cathedral from Salisbury.

I loved to visit the Cathedral from Salisbury. Was very interesting. I loved the town. You could have something to eat or drink, everywhere. A lot of shops, but a bit expensive. Happy people, happy face. I would loved to visit the Stonehenge, but was nothing to show how to go there

Staff were fabulous, right from pre-booking. Larry the head chef emailed me how he would accommodate my dietary requirements. The lady on reception was also great as were the servers in the restaurant. All were helpful, polite and unobtrusive. The hotel is perfectly located alongside the river and convenient for the Cathedral and the city centre restaurants, bars and shopping. The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Complimentary parking and WiFi are welcome additions too.

Everything, the location is an easy walk into the town centre and Salisbury Cathedral. The Hotel is clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. The room was very large, and the bed was perfect. It was very comfortable and helped us get over jet lag. The area is extremely quiet, and we could control the temperature of the room. Bathroom was large and had a spacious tub and shower combination. The English Breakfast is a must have to start your day.

Parking is very easy for a city centre hotel. Friendly and very helpful hotel staff. We had an Executive Double Room which was well equipped and everything worked as it should, the large bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast offerings were not a strength, but everything else was in good supply and the quality was high when compared to the 5* hotel we were staying in prior to arriving at this hotel. The coffee was very good.

This is a very well-maintained, comfortable guest house in a fantastic location in Salisbury. Having stayed in 4 other B&Bs during our trip, I was especially happy with the bathrooms, which were large and super clean. It’s a 15min walk to the city center and cathedral, and that walk is along a beautiful path. It’s also next to the Old Mill restaurant and pub, which has a lovely back garden for outdoor seating and a great menu.

Location is very close to the city centre in Salisbury making it very easy to explore that wonderful city. Nearby are some exceptional restaurants and the breakfast in the hotel was one of the best continental breakfast boards I have seen. No lift in the hotel but the staff carried our luggage up to the room and were very helpful.
