The rooms were perfect for a single person. A couple could share a room, but it would be tight. For American travelers, I would recommend one room per person, as we did, and it was perfect.
The location is beautiful, with free parking behind the hotel. Downtown is a few minutes' walk. Many restaurants are within walking distance.
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Every person at the front desk and the restaurant was friendly. Special shout out to Daniel at the front desk who was incredibly patient with our questions about places to visit each day.
The buffet breakfast was good, and cost about $30 per person. A bit expensive, but not much more than good hotels in the US charge, and it is understandable for Iceland. There are less expensive options within walking distance, but the convenience and the spread made this worth the price.
Located on Laugavegur shopping street in central Reykjavik, this hotel offers modern rooms with a flat-screen TV and free WiFi access. Hallgrimskirkja Church is a 5-minute walk away.

the bed was really comfy, bathroom great and overall very clean
Downtown Reykjavik is full of life, joy and culture, so it can be noisy at night. We recommend enjoying the live music at the bar downstairs, which will stop at 11 in the night.

We were there for 4 days. Such a lot to see. So different from other holidays. Many interesting things to see and learn about. You wont see anything similar anywhere else in the world. only a 2 hr flight for us from scotland, and well worth the trip. We had heard it was very expensive, but although about 30%-40% more expensive it wasnt as bad as we had anticipated. All guides and bus drivers were excellent and we didnt meet a single person who couldnt speak english fluently.Even managed to catch the celtic v rangers old firm game in a local pub . What else can you ask for. ? Would thoroughly recommend a trip to iceland.

This review is very much aimed at parents.
This review is very much aimed at parents. We couldn't do a lot of the famous activities due to having a little one but I still 100% recommend Iceland.
Reykjavik is an excellent place to visit for a small city break with a two year old. We were cautious but I am so glad we did it! I recommend getting an apartment over a hotel. It is slightly more expensive but well worth the investment.
Reykjavik is very pushchair friendly and most places allow children to eat for free. Just be careful which restaurants you choose as not all places cater for children.
If you are from the UK, budget for around £250 per day. It is expensive!
Places to eat:
For lunch/dinner - Brass Kitchen and Bar - Laugavegur 66, 101 (children's menu and really friendly)
I cannot remember the name but there is an Indian restaurant next door to the Bio Paradis on Hverfisgata 101. It is phenomenal! No children's menu so take snacks if you have a toddler.
For breakfast/lunch - Sandholt - Laugavegur 36, 101 (kids eat free)
Places to visit:
The Blue Lagoon! The hype is real, do it!
Lava Show
Puffin watching (we got to see a whale also!)

Really great vibes, cool and aesthetic cafes with world-class coffee and pastries. Astonishing views of mountains all around the city. For the best 'like-a-local' experience, make sure you visit the public pools - it is brilliant to soak in the warm water after a day of walking around the city!

Only a small city and easy to get round in a day.
Only a small city and easy to get round in a day. Excursions outside of the city that involve coach transport are, like everything else in Reykjavik, eye-wateringly expensive. The norm seems to be to hire a car which provides a signififcant cost saving. That's probably fine in the Summer but in February, when it's snowing heavily most of the time that isn't an attractive proposition. Make use of Happy Hour which runs from about 5pm to around 8pm. Beer prices are around half price then. Although that's still about £6.00 a pint. It is expensive but you know that before you go so there's no point moaning. 3 days was good, 4 would have been better. Choose a hotel as close to the centre as you can and one which is close to a collection/drop off point for coach transport if you don't fancy hiring a car. The buses have designated pick up points and if your accomodation isn't near one it can be a long walk. Use public transport for airport transfers (both ways) taxis are about £140.00 each way. The buses are approx £40.00. It's a brilliant and beautiful city, with friendly helpful locals. You might even see the Northern Lights. We didn't, due to the blizzards, but I'm assured they are there.

Nice town
Nice town
But, a lot of fast food .. burgers and fries or fish and fries.. not so many nice restaurants to visit.
The prices versus the food do not meet expectations!
6 dollars for a coffee, 250 dollars for a taxi ride early in the morning, or fish and fries for 20 to 25 dollars .. way too much for what you get.
If you have and disabilities beware some of the trails you will have a hard time since they are wet and rock or dirt,

Great short vacation.
Great short vacation. Very picturesque and suggest renting a car to see it all. Enjoyed the lagoons and the nature sightseeing . Food was very very expensive. Downtown area is good for walking through.
The accomodation was clean and the location is really perfect, the BSÍ bus terminal was close by, it's a walking distance to the city centre, plus there are a bunch of day trips where a bus will pick you up directly from the hostel. The rooms, beds and bedding were simple but quite comfortable and clean. There are a lot of bathrooms on every floor so even with the hostel almost full, I never waited too long for one. The kitchenette has everything you need to make a quick. For such a cheap price, this is really an amazing place to stay.
wonderful hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were very nice. The hotel is very close to the city center and waterfront area giving you many options for restaurants, bars or just strolling and taking in the sights. We stayed their before boarding a cruise ship. The smaller ships are within walking distance to the hotel and the larger ships dock about 10 minutes away by taxi. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Centrum when we return to Reykjavik in the future.
This is a great place to stay. It's an older building, but it is clean, has helpful staff, and it's affordable. It's close enough to walk to downtown Reykjavik, Harpa, the waterfront, etc. It's off on a quieter sidestreet. There's a Bonus grocery store close by. Breakfast was very nicely laid out in a dining room area with breads, meats, cereals, etc. Very quiet. The rooms are not fancy, nor large, and ours had twin beds. But for a clean, quiet place for a quick visit to Reykjavik this was a great deal.
One of the cheap nice hotels I found in Reykjavik for thanks to booking.com. Very clean rooms. The hotel has really friendly staff. They were able to provide for my requests of cutlery dead of the night.
The location is also great! bus stops are near by. hotel also provides a pick up service from the airport for an economic fee.
Breakfast was also pretty decent. Not many vegetarian options but with bread and salad veggies, it’s also easy to set a sandwich. :)
- Amazing breakfast, well worth it paying for it, so many good options
- Hotel restaurant is lovely, lots of good options and a good vibe in the eve with happy hour
- Lots of stylish areas of the hotel to relax in, wish we had more time to enjoy them
- Heated floor in the bathroom is great after cold days!
- Easy and friendly check in
- Spacious room and comfy bed
- Great location with good access to everything in Reykjavik city centre
This hotel was fantastic! Large room, plenty of outlets and luggage bench for two suitcases.. Only Iceland lodging we've stayed at that has had washcloths and kleenex. No refrigerator, but the staff gladly kept our food in their refrigerator. Great breakfast. Parking available right outside the hotel and short walk to main street in downtown Reykjavik. Requested mountain view was great.
EXCEPTIONAL value for the location! walking distance to downtown Reykjavik/all the restaurants, cute houses and shopping, 40 minute from the Blue Lagoon and airport. LOVED the communal kitchen and ability to cook and DO LAUNDRY on site!!!! that is such a gift to a weary traveler. The host is so kind and helpful. My mom and I had a lovely time. Thank you for your hospitality :)
The best hotel that we've stayed in Reykjavik. We had stayed in two other hotels in the same area. The hotel is on a pedestrian street but only a few steps from where a taxi drops you off. 5 minutes walk to bus stop 14 to take the shuttle to the airport. There are plenty of good restaurents around the hotel.
The location of this hotel is amazing! Right in the middle of downtown Reykjavik and in the middle of all the action. They also keep the hotel looking very posh and clean. There's a restaurant/bar which is adjacent to the hotel and a barber shop. The hotel also offers free water refills.
The property is in a brilliant location. All of downtown Reykjavik is within an easy stroll. The apartment we had was clean and well equipped, with very effective underfloor heating. The hotel restaurant was lovely and the bar opposite was lively and fun. All in all a great place to stay.
Fosshotel Lind was a great place to stay in Reykjavik. Its location was convenient enough to walk downtown, without being too close to the nightlife. The staff were polite and friendly, and happy to answer any questions we had. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in years!
The location of the apartment was nestled comfortably in downtown Reykjavik. I could easily walk to the best museums, restaurants, and other noteworthy sights of the city. This is the reason why my overall score is a 7 and not a lower number.
It’s a perfect place to stay in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. They make it easy to get into the hotel and room with their keyless pin pads. The room was very comfortable and quiet; a good place to stay after our long trip on the ring road.
The breakfast room was light and cheery, the food was plentiful and presented well.
The location was great, walking distance to the harbor, city center and best of all, the bus stop from the airport was right out in front of the hotel!
I loved the view from the apartment. I often rent apartments in Reykjavik but this was simply the best. It had everything you need and had a very good atmosphere. The fact that it was cheaper than most others was a bonus.
A very simple guesthouse, away from the city center. The amenities were just acceptable. Nothing special but I guess we got what we paid for (it was the cheapest guesthouse in Reykjavik at the time)...
Excellent location. Only 20 minutes walk to downtown Reykjavik. The staff is very polite and helpful. This is a relatively new hotel and everything is clean and modern.
This is a decent, cheap hotel at the outskirts of Reykjavik about 15-20 minutes drive from the city centre.
There is a free car park.
