FAQs about hotels in Perth

Serene as the Swan

Sun-drenched and laid-back, Perth is simply a joy to be in. However, the West Australian capital does have tourist attractions, such as the Colonial-era mint, important in the country’s gold industry. East is the WACA, a must-see for cricket fans, and the city is also mad for Aussie Rules football.

The city center has the historic Government House and Supreme Court, both dwarfed by the ultra-modern skyscrapers a few streets behind. The best skyline view is from leafy King’s Park, near the War Memorial overlooking the Swan River below, named after its black swans. Across the river in Perth Zoo are more native animals including koalas, crocodiles and free-hopping kangaroos.

Boats to the zoo leave from the Barrack Street jetty by a sail-shaped bell tower. Other day trips from Perth include Rottnest Island and Fremantle, down the river in the opposite direction from Perth Airport.

The apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Perth are spread all over this fantastic city, interspersed with restaurants serving specialties such as western rock lobster and chili mussels. There are also a wealth of bars, many playing the indie music that the city is known for. Local brews from Swan Brewery and wines from the Swan Valley vineyards round off the evening.

I had a short stay as was taking the Indian Pacific to Sydney after two overnights but did a tour of the Mint on Friday and it was most interesting and I did not know of it until receiving the information from Booking.com....as I was able to see my son and family during my short stay I was not a tourist so unable to recommend except a lady on the IP told me how great is the bus where you hop on or off so that may be of interest to visitors.

    The city is clean!

The city is clean! There are plenty of trees and gardens which are all very well cared for. The roads are quite glorious with multiple lane highways, overhead bypasses, roundabouts - and it all works - there is very little congestion. The people are friendly and happy to assist - one young man virtually walked us to our apartment when we got lost one night! There are lots of interesting places to visit. I particularly recommend Rottnest which is glorious and the Margaret River area which is an opportunity to sample local produce.

    Perth is a fabulous city.

Perth is a fabulous city. This was our third visit, but the first time in the winter. Should have brought some winter clothing!! 😅 Elizabeth Quay is lovely, as is the pedestrian shopping areas. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. It’s a city where new meets old. You can easily get a train to Fremantle then get the ferry to Rottnest Island where you will find quokkas who love to pose with you to have their photos taken. There’s plenty to do and see.

    We enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed our stay. Lighting in rooms a bit dim but comfortable room. Disappointed in the view we had...roof tops and parking lot. Pillows and bed comfy. We had the Beauty and the Beast High Tea. Highly recommend. We went to the opening night of the Beauty and the Beast Musical and it was fantastic.

We went to visit our newborn grandchild so didn’t do much touristing especially since we are frequent visitors. The roads are excellent compared to Sydney. It’s very easy to get around and getting to the airport is a breeze, unlike Sydney.

All Suites was selected by me as being in downtown Perth ,within walking distance of the railway station and not on a busy thoroughfare. Perth is an expensive city and I did not need the 4 or 5 star frills of an hotel. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable, the bed comfortable ,the bathroom adequate and facilities to make a drink available, plus a fridge for fresh milk etc. Plenty of places to eat nearby....the All Suites has sub-let part of ground floor to a small scale Japanese restaurant.

Could not wish for a better located upmarket hotel in Perth for exploring the city area and easy access around Perth. Easy walk down to the waterfront and into city centre. It is 50 m from Govt House gardens which are open 12-2 week days. A great place to relax. Gym was great with good quality equipment (Peleton bikes). Lifts are big and quick with minimal waiting time. Very clean rooms and property.
