As the financial capital of Switzerland and headquarters of several large companies including FIFA, there’s a good chance that if you’re in Zurich you’re here on business. But that doesn’t mean this city doesn’t have a playful side.
Known for its cleanliness and fresh air, it comes as no surprise that the luxurious ski resorts of the Alps are within an easy distance of both the city and Zurich Airport, which is only a 12 minute drive from the city center.
The center is also a fast-growing cultural hub, packed with art galleries and museums. The Swiss history museum is called Landesmuseum and the Kunsthaus houses some of the most important pieces of art owned by Switzerland. For an interesting combination of art and culture, check out the Fraumunster, a gothic church with window paintings attributed to Marc Chagall.
During the day, the Lindenhof hill offers a stunning vista of the heart of the old town, Niederdorf, which is filled with shopping avenues, winding alleyways and restaurants. At night the many club doors open offering a range of live music and DJs.

Centrally located so allows you to travel to any location in about 2-3 hours and come back. Travel pass is a must. Zurich station is 3 minutes from Stadelhofen. It is a huge station with +40 platforms. Swiss time is expensive and trains are always on time. This allows you 3-5 minutes of running or brisk walk for changeovers. If you miss the train then lag is about 30-50 minutes. Migros, coop, aldi are some supermarkets. Drinking Water is freely available unless you are a snob. Bakery is hot and over fresh. Best is to grab in morning. Coffee is amazing as well. Chesse is something one must not compromise on rather indulge into in Zurich. Don't spoil yourself with chocolates, fresh vegetables and fruits. Tomatoes are big as oranges. Clean air helpful people, no noise, clean and neat environment. Green and white everywhere. Swiss roses are in bunches in gardens. One branch has almost 6-7 roses. Zürich City Pleasantly Surprised! Zürich turned out to be one of the best cities we've visited - completely unexpected! Initially, I thought we might struggle to find enough attractions, but the city offered so much more than anticipated. Highlights: Lake Ferry Experience: The 2-hour ferry ride was absolutely exceptional and a must-do activity. The scenic views and relaxing atmosphere made it one of our trip's best moments. Local People: The residents were genuinely lovely and welcoming, adding to the city's charm. Public Transport: Zürich has an excellent, well-connected commute system that makes getting around very convenient. While it's somewhat expensive, the quality and efficiency justify the cost. Overall Impression: This city has so much to offer that our 2-day visit simply didn't do it justice. There were many more sights and experiences we missed due to limited time. Would have loved to have stayed longer as there is a great public transport system that gives access to even the out of the way places. The views from the lake are beautiful, lots of parks and gardens to walk around such as Chinese Garden. Public transport boat around the lake is a relaxing and a must do. Restaurants charging 7 SF for tap water is unreasonable when everywhere in Zurich water is freely available from water fountains.
