The rooms were very nice. The linens were nice. The housekeeping staff were awesome. All the staff downstairs were also incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. It’s pretty conveniently located and we essentially walked everywhere. It was a little strange that you have to take one elevator to the third floor and then a different elevator to your room floor or the street level, depending upon which way you’re going. But that was really just a very minor thing.

FAQs about hotels in Washington, D.C.

A World Icon

Featuring tons of national treasures, Washington DC is the US capital and home to the world’s most iconic presidential building – The White House. Most visitors start at the National Mall, a huge park stretching from the Potomac River to the Capitol Building. It also encompasses the Washington Monument obelisk and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, of particular significance in US civil rights, commemorated by the latest addition - the Martin Luther King Memorial.

Also here are 11 of the city’s 17 incredible Smithsonian museums, including the unmissable National Museum of American History.

If all this gets too much, wander around Georgetown’s Colonial buildings and take a break in one of the student cafés. Many world cuisines are represented in Washington DC and the city also has its fair share of live music venues, with a surprisingly good jazz scene. The National Symphony Orchestra is based here and the Kennedy Center hosts a range of productions.

DC’s planning policy means there are no skyscrapers, so if you fly into Washingon Dulles Airport over the city, you see its white buildings standing proud. The city is also served by Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport and Washington National Airport. All are quite a way out, so leave plenty of time to get there from your hotel, apartment or guesthouse booked through Booking.com.

You can't beat the access to our Nation's history, via monuments, museums, etc. The city was cleaner than we expected it to be and everyone was very friendly. Uber or taxi seem to be the easiest ways to travel, though a lot of the area is walkable if you are willing!

It is easy getting around DC.

It is easy getting around DC. Our hotel was in walking distance and we felt safe as there was a big police presence. The hotel food is expensive. We found several restaurants and delis nearby that had excellent food only a 10 minute walk away. Union station nearby and parking offsite was much more reasonable that parking at the hotel. We recommend taxis if you need to ride. Uber is much more expensive. Metro nearby as well. The Corner Deli has great inexpensive breakfast and lunch. Rental e-bikes and everywhere and you just pay, ride, and leave at your destination. DC was not busy this time. Visit the Bible Museum! It was awesome!

I lived in D.C. for 20 years, and went back for a visit. If you don't need to leave the metro area - you don't need a car. Getting around on Metro worked out great - fast, clean and convenient. If you don't have to go in July or August... don't. It was HOT and very HUMID. Walking just a few blocks is exhausting in high humidity. Many diverse places to eat - great selection of restaurants.

Short stay with two adults and teen boy: Nats game, Zoo, Capitol tour, Natural History Museum, Botanical Garden & walked the National Mall in the evening/night. Locals all very friendly & helpful and the Metro is a piece a cake after the first day. Would have liked another day to explore, but then we might not want to return ;-)

This place is exactly what you would expect from the title, a cheap place to stay in a good location. If you're not really fussed with comfort or luxury, and just want an affordable place (which is exactly what I wanted) close to everything you want to see in Washington, but having a private room rather than sharing in a dorm, this place is perfect. It's old and quite run down, but the room was clean, which is the important thing.

Snazzy, stylish, and budget-friendly hotel in Dupont. It's not right in the center of the action but it was a short and cheap Uber ride to main areas, and the price is so good that it far outweighed the additional Ubers. They also issue $25 of credit to spend at their incredible cocktail bar to offset DC's annoying room taxes!
