We had time to visit Bridport, while we were there the market was on. It was wonderful walking around the stalls with all sorts of great goods to be had. Plenty of stands for eating too. Bridport is a bustling market town between Dorchester and Lyme Regis. It is ideally placed for the Jurassic coast, east to Weymouth and Portland, west to Lyme Regis. Many shops, the usual chains but also many independents invite the shopper. There are also at least three dog-friendly pubs. On the Saturday I was there, a street market was in full swing with many interesting stalls. I travelled with my dog and was delighted to discover (as was he) an extensive nature reserve within short walking distance of the town centre - very unusual.
