Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was sufficient to set us up for the day. The Inn is in a quiet hamlet outside Dorchester and as such is centrally situated for touring Dorset.

Dorchester is amazing, has restaurants, pubs, parks, churches and so many museums. I actually didn't have time to go to everything I wanted to so I would like to go back. There is so much in the nearby area to see too.

Dorchester is a lovely town; don't miss the excellent museum, the roman villa behind the City Hall and below that, the lovely walk along the river. Beyond that Dorset is beautiful from Golden Cap and Lyme Regis to the various glorious churches and historic houses and their gardens. Coney's Castle, an iron age hill fort north of Charmouth, was wonderfully atmospheric and gave superb views. Stourhead to the north has the wonderful gardens and parkland designed by Capability Brown.
We happened to have visited Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire on the way down, and then Montacute Manor (20 mins from Dorchester - take the guided tour if possible) and Lytes Carey Manor 52 mins away in Somerset in that order, giving a wonderful overview of private displays of power and wealth in Tudor England, (from highest to lowest), all three fascinating and with superb gardens, but the last having the most charm.

The first thing I have to say which is about the state of the country really is there are NO POTHOLES on the roads (Hurray), we had a great time visiting lots of lovely places like Kingston Lacy and Tom Hardys cottage, Lulworth Cove and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and countryside as well as the lovely coastline. Weymouth is always worth a visit and the swannery at Abbotsbury was a nice afternoon out as well. West bay is also a nice place to visit and see the Jurassic coast. Dorchester itself had some interesting places but is a lot smaller than I expected......If your looking for fuel go to Tesco's in Dorchester about 9p cheaper than anywhere else...A little further afield but worth a visit was The Cerne Giant and old abbey ruins and Salisbury Cathedral which is fabulous. Also take in Stonehenge Free for National Trust and English Heritage members otherwise £30 a head which is rather expensive when you can use a public footpath to get there for free.

There is no food delivery and it would be hard to stay there without a car. The area is beautiful, calm and relaxing. We enjoyed Tank Fest. The Tank Museum is worth a visit. We cooked our meals which was fine. Bring your own seasonings (salt and pepper are there) and oil. We did some hand washing and there is a laundry basket and rack there. All in all it was a good place and a good value.

Dorchester is a great base for exploring Dorset, with its lovely beaches, history and nature. The town itself is small and attractive. Everything you need is within walking distance of the centre. There are several excellent eating places, as well as more basic fast food places, chain restaurants etc.
Very friendly reception staff. The hotel is clean and the room was very cosy with a modern bathroom. The location for the hotel was central to Dorchester. With no parking for the hotel, I parked in the top o' town car park which was very safe and was 3 nights for £12 which is reasonable. The car park is also 20 seconds away from the hotel.
Beautiful period building, wonderful decoration and furnishings in a most convenient location to visit all Dorchester and indeed Dorsets many attractions. Very attentive staff providing delicious breakfast offerings and fabulous coffee to start your day. Room was super clean with crispy fresh linen. A real treasure to find !
I found the Duchess of Cornwall hotel to be excellent. The room was a good size, well decorated and had a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and the staff friendly and professional. I would anyone visiting Dorchester to stay at this hotel.
