Torquay is a lovely English seaside town, has lots of links to Agatha Christie and some great local restaurants and bars. Lots of things to do only down side is at the moment the town is under going many road works in and out so getting about can be a bit slow by car/taxi. its also very hilly so walking can be difficult if in anyway unabled.

Been to Torquay regularly down the years, but we missed last year due to other commitments. Couldn't believe the change. What has happened to the town? It is a dishevelled, shabby place. Now full of beggars, roadworks, and boarded up shops. Thoroughly depressing and I'm so sad to say that I will not be returning. It is a ghost of what it once was, the jewel in Torbay. Couldn't wait to leave..

Pleasant seaside situation, somewhat run down town centre,...
Pleasant seaside situation, somewhat run down town centre, plenty of restaurants, very hilly, parking is a nightmare and at the moment there is reconstruction going on in the middle of town. It has a charm of a sort and some nice walks if fit. There is a reasonably good bus service to take you to other local towns - Dawlish, Teignmouth, etc - and there are quite a few beaches although as we visited in April and had a planned reason to stay we didn't visit any. Visitors need to choose their hotel carefully - we saw some examples of what might politely be called faded buildings.

Selection of museums to check out at a small cost. There is a lot to see if you have time. The Agatha Christie Mile. Torquay happens to be the birth place of this Legend . Unfortunately our stay was short as this would be definitely on our agenda to do.

Torquay is a typical seaside resort & has something for all ages and it's easy to get around by car, bus or on foot. Bygones museum at St. Marychurch is well worth a visit & Cockington Village has to be seen, especially on a warm sunny day.
This was the 3rd stay at this wonderful hotel very clean and very spacious rooms comfortable beds. But more importantly the staff are so friendly and I have to say thankyou so much to Anna on reception she is a credit to the hotel nothing was to much trouble for her to accommodate us Anna you are a star thankyou sooooo much. When I'm staying over in Torquay again the Crofton house hotel will be my choice every time.
My favourite hotel during my 6 week trip across Europe and Asia! Huge room, really lovely, overlooking the seafront. I was put in the suite at no extra cost. Delightful breakfast cooked fresh, with loads of options to choose from. Very clean, with coffee/snacks and towels replenished daily. Lovely, warm and friendly staff- I loved it here and will definitely make it my go-to hotel when visiting family in Torquay!
Lovely old style hotel. We had a sea room view that was beautiful. It wasn’t a cheap stay but it was August and we’d booked relative short notice. Rooms are adequate and very clean but probably not too far from needing renovating. Staff are lovely. Best location in Babbacombe. Good buffet breakfast. A few nice pubs and eateries around, and more in nearby Torquay.
The property is exactly what you expect from an old fashioned hotel in Torquay, it got character and it’s in the best location, it was basic but it was cheap and clean. There’s nothing wrong with it at all. It’s a bit dated but that adds to the charm of the place in my eyes. We had an amazing anniversary weekend here and would definitely go again
This is a lovely family run hotel in the heart of Torquay. We really enjoyed our stay we were made very welcome by the owners ... The decor was fabulous and the hosts welcoming. Our rooms were beautiful and luxurious. Everything that we asked for was provided promptly and with real warmth. Overall an excellent hotel, situated a stones throw from all Torquay and the wider English Rivera has to offer.
The hotel was in a good position, really good value for money, we had the budget room so wasn't sure what to expect with some of the other reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised very good for the price we paid.Staff were very welcoming and friendly.
The location was good , close enough to everything.
Rooms were clean and provided all that was needed. Bed was comfy.
The hotel was very quiet.
Indoor pool and hot tub was only thing to do onsite.
Breakfast was excellent. Individually freshly cooked. The owners were friendly and accommodating of our every need. Made to feel welcome from first stepping in the hotel to checking out
Such a comfortable hotel. Everything in the room was obviously high quality and San and Sabita were so friendly and helpful. Nothing but praise for this hotel. Great position too
