The location of this property was perfect for us. Nice & close to a parking lot (once we figured out the streets there ;) ) & right within the center so walkable to everything. We had a charming room that we all liked with space to spread out (important with 2 teens). There was even a little courtyard/patio area that we could access from our room (it was not private to our room but no one else used it). The kids really enjoyed sitting out there to play card games. The best part though was the staff! We arrived Easter evening, tired, hungry and not realizing everything would be closed - it was like a ghost town... except for the restaurant attached to the rooms. They were full inside but we preferred to sit outside anyway and they really took care of us! It was a delicious start to our stay!! I wish I could remember her name but a lovely lady chatted a while with me and when we arrived to breakfast the next morning she remembered that one of our kids has ARFID and very restricted foods - she made sure that everything was done just right for him to enjoy his meal as much as the rest of us (they even pealed his apples & pear slices!) The kindness & thoughtfulness meant the world to us! There was always friendly & warm greeting any time we even passed by a staff member from there on the street. If we ever return to Silves - we would very excitedly stay here again in a heartbeat! THANKS Mosaiko!!

I liked the style and charm of accommodations. I also liked the rooftop patio with 270° views of the town. It was also walking distance to a large parking lot, restaurants, and the castle as well as a short drive to a grocery store. It was only about a 25-minute drive to Benagil and Ferragudo.

Wonderful apartment with great facilities. Everything was new and thought of; from cool box to extra towels for a beach trip. Perfect location for people who want to explore the surrounding cities. But next to some nice restaurants and an interesting castle, so you won't get bored if you stay in Silves. I recommend the port experience next to the castle and the jazz Cafe.

Sally is a true empress of hosting! There were tiny surprises she included that gave me a wonderful first night & mourning as well. Having stayed so many places, it is especially to have such hospitality & attentiveness. The home is darling, my favorite stay in Portugal. And SO CLOSE to all you will want to do in Silves - sites, shipping, restaurants.

    I liked everything about this town.

    I liked everything about this town. There was a lot of lovely restaurants also. The river walk is wonderful and great to see the local people out enjoying themselves. Musaika restaurant has marvellous food and people lovely. Traditional Fado singer and musicians on Sunday nights - superb. A lovely refined heritage town. The castle is also very beautiful with lovely gardens.

    Silves is a small town with a river running through it that...

    Silves is a small town with a river running through it that isn't too "Touristy". There are plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and cafes. The cathederal and the Castle are worh a visit and the Medieval festival was jolly! Beaches are an easy drive away Its great if you're looking for a quieter holiday but still with enough variety of places to eat to keep you going for a week or two!

    Loads of interesting history and some amazing locations to visit. Everywhere was walking distance, although some may find some of the inclines a little challenging. Ubers are plenty, cheap and the drivers are very professional and friendly. Indeed everyone there was, in my experience, friendly and welcoming and very helpful. I always felt very welcome and at ease. The restaurants and bars were great - the food and drink (especially the rose wine and port), was exceptional. Just one word of warning - the mosquitoes (certainly in April) were voracious and vicious. Take some repellant with you, along with your favourite antihistamine if you are sensitive to insect bites.

    Silves is a pretty and traditional Portugeese town with history and architecture and facilities for the tourist. It is a good place to visit. The deserted and boarded up trainstation looks like something out of an old western. Taking the train in the Algarve is great, but sad that the people let their trainstations decay. This is an otherwise great inroad to Silves but two kilometers from town. A geographical oddity.

    I am spending three months in Portugal, travelling around, and Silves is one of my favourite finds. I loved all the storks and their nests, the castle on the top of the hill, and the abundance of nature. Our favourite restaurant was Cafe Ingles near the castle where we had a late dinner. There is a coffee shop, Ana & Joana, in a corner by the castle, which served amazing upside down orange cake. The owner was very kind and accommodating and made the visit memorable. We walked most of the time and found it easy to get around. When we were looking for the museum, I stepped into an art shop and the owner came out on the street to point me in the right direction.

    Silves had a small, walkable, historic downtown area. We stayed close to the historic area so we walked to coffee shops, the park and shopping. We had dinner at four different restaurants for our four nights in Silves but unfortunately none of them was a dinner that I would say was fabulous. We went up to the castle but there was a sign on the door saying "STRIKE" so it was closed. It is a wonderful location to stay if you are visiting the Algarve because it is centrally located.

    Great place to stay, the city of Silves was beautiful and it was great to be able to experience it at night as well as during the day. The house allowed us to visit the region of Algarve within a 50min car ride (Faro, Lagos...). The house itself is well equiped, cosy and the bathroom/rooftop was definitely a must !! We stayed during the hot weather and we opened the windows and put the fan on during the night so sleeping was fine.

    The accomodation is so beautiful and different to what you normally get in a hotel. A lot of thought has gone into the design and layout of the hotel. The staff were all superb, so attentive, friendly and worked so well as a team. This made our stay very special.
