This property was GORGEOUS. We stayed for 2 days and did not have to leave property as you can get everything you need right on the hotel grounds. The hotel overlooks a pretty loch and has a beautiful front yard with chairs to enjoy a sunset drink. The room is spacious and enjoyable with a comfortable bed, wonderful shower, and great coffee/tea station. The food is INCREDIBLE from breakfast until dinner. Top notch chef and menu! The lobby has games and sometimes live music so you can enjoy after dinner for a while. The staff is so beyond friendly and we wanted to extend another night but the hotel was full. However, one of the staff, Mark, suggested where we to stay next and it was perfect. Can’t wait to be back!

The property is gorgeous! The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, the room is cozy and spacious for exactly what you would need. The food is INCREDIBLE. Do NOT miss out on the restaurant, you’ll regret it. Michelin status. There’s a short walking path in the back where you can get beautiful sunset views and see Isle of Mull in the distance. It’s also a short drive to the pier to take a 5 minute ferry over to Isle of Easdale. I was so sad to only stay for one day, I could stay multiple days at a time. Can’t wait to be back!

FAQs about hotels in Oban

Gateway to the Inner Hebrides

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.

The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.

Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.

Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.

As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

Stayed with my family at the Espladade Apartments for four days .That was amazing ! The rest of my family Then went to Mull for three days and then I booked this small central " studio" which turned out to be dark and depressing ! Spoilt my otherwise gorgeous holiday in Oban! Would highly recommend Oban as it was extremely beautiful . Definitely a town to visit and use as a base in this area of Scotland.. Lovely sea food cafes and restaurants on both piers . McCaig s Folly and Pulpit Hill are both great view points and worth a visit. A day trip to Mull by foot also an easy and lovely opton.with CalMac Ferries. Lots of small boat trips available . We were lucky enough to see about twelve dolphins round our boat !! Woderful!! The sunsets in Oban are especially stunning and hard to rival anywhere in the world !

We were using Oban to access the Cal Mac ferry to Lismore, as my partner's dad is buried there. Everything went very smoothly and we had a nice sailing there and back. We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals at the Waterfront Sea Food Restaurant and ES-USK Seafood Restaurant. Enjoyed an evening of live music and a few drinks in The Oban Inn. Finished the trip off by visiting McCaig's Tower, with excellent views over the town, sea, and surrounding Islands.

Love this port as watching boats coming in and out to and from the islands is so interesting. Gift shops are lovely to walk round and we also enjoyed seeing the museum with artifacts from the wars as well as history of the town. We enjoyed going up to the lovely McCaigs tower overlooking the town. Spectacular views and interesting place to read history of

Oban is the gateway to the isles but is also such a beautiful and pleasant little town with much to do and explore. Something that is often overlooked but always a must for me is at the end of the day to head up to McCaig's Tower and watch the sunset over Mull, Lismore and Morven. A more beautiful vista you will struggle to find.

The coastal street was lovely and lively with bars, restaurants and hotels predominating everywhere. Of this main street and the standards and views are quite difirent. Of course Oban is the hub to catch a ferry to other islands and of course Fingals cave on Staffa. or take a local boat trip out to see the dolphins and perhaps, as we did, manage to see the white tailed sea eagle too. Lovely Oban.

Great location, very clean hotel and staff were excellent. We had a problem with our television and I asked Shiva at the front desk if he could check it for us,when we came back later he had changed over the tv for a brand new one which was excellent service. The staff at night were also very good. I would highly recommend the Columba hotel for a stay in oban
