A super-comfortable - and elegant, 'country' boutique hotel that exudes quality at every turn.
Warm, thoughtfully appointed and spacious rooms, with extremely comfortable bed with lovely linen, nice small touches in the room such as 'treats tray' and nice toiletries etc...
Staff friendly and professional, lovely seasonal decorations and a welcoming feel to the place overall.
The Wentbridge is quite well known in the area as a place to go for a special meal or afternoon tea and I have to say the breakfast was beautifully done (cooked fresh to order) and the dining room itself stylish without standing on ceremony.
If you're after lots of facilities, this place won't be 1st choice - BUT if you seek a wonderfully comfortable place to rest your head for the night then this is your spot if you're heading through Yorkshire up the A1.

The evening meals were good and reasonably priced as was the first breakfast. The second breakfast was not very good, bring overcooked and the staff were more interested in a Corporate Event than the residents.

Absolutely wonderful room. There was temperature control in the room, which was perfect coming back from a day at Leeds festival and needing to be warmed through. The selection of refreshments in the room was varied and fantastic. Bathroom modern, clean and relaxing. The bed was the best bed we've ever slept in out of every hotel or B&B we've used in the past. The owner went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, including allowing early check in, we also arrived back very late and everything was fine. I was visually exhausted in the morning, and didn't choose to have breakfast - in lieu of breakfast, the owner gave me some lucozade and painkillers, that kindness and personal touch absolutely made my day. They were needed!! My partner also said the bacon sandwich was the best he'd ever had and "this is the best place I've ever stayed".

An excellent location for travellers on the A1 and easy to find. Very helpful staff. The restaurant was very popular with families, but our menu choices was not as well cooked as I would have liked and the breakfast was poorly cooked, but this is a personal view. The whole place looked tired and Greene King need to take more care of its inns, this is the second time we have stayed in one and the hot water boiler has failed and there has been no hot water.

Darrington is a small well to do village near Pontefract. Bus service is minimal. Lots of big houses and well tended lawns. There are two pubs and a small general store. Church and church hall are set back from the road (which is busy) We were having a post breakfast stroll guessing the property prices and a local lady invited us to a coffee morning, which was nice.

The hotel was right next to the A1M but had little if any noise from it. It was ideal to break up the journey further north for a funeral & then the return journey. Bed was very comfortable and large, staff were very welcoming and friendly, having a pub attached gave a great choice for evening meals and breakfast.
The only criticism was the occasional uneven floor in the room

I travelled to spend time with family. The staff are great. Location is good just off the A1. We visited Bridlington Beach for the day, which has a lovely beach and funfair and restaurants. It is about 1 hour and 20 mins from Darrington.

The only good point for our reason for being there was the location.
Every other aspect of the Darrington Hotel was unpleasant, in fact downright disgusting! The place is filthy and the constant TV sport, in every nook and cranny, is unbearable.
The rooms are tiny, the shower was minute and we had one chair between us. No hanging space or drawers.
The food was awful, badly cooked, badly presented, cheap and nasty, though not to buy! The breakfasts were appalling! Little choice, poor quality, like warm water to make tea or coffee, there was nothing good about the breakfasts. The staff? Scruffy! One lad in particular, with filthy jeans, long dirty hair and an arrogant swagger, looked more like a tramp than a waiter!
Many years ago we lived in Darrington and that hotel was our local. It was then a decent, well kept place. Now, it is simply disgusting!
Although close to the A1 road you enter another world at the Darrington. The rooms are at the back of the Building and are reasonably quiet. They are newly refurbished and very comfortable.
The Staff are all fantastic making you feel welcome and if they know you personally without being too familiar.
This is a Hungry Horse franchise so the range of food on offer is great value and excellent quality. Recommend Mollys poached eggs for breakfast if she is cooking.
Vicky, Paul and Lorraine were all outstanding in their hospitality!!! couldn’t rate them enough. The food was very enjoyable and the staff were all incredibly friendly. My mum and I arrived at the Darrington with my two small children who obviously are very needing. Everyone was super helpful and I asked for a lot from them and they were all ready to help out! Even when it came to warming to the children’s milk up! No complaints, just genuinely happy to help.
Hotel reception is just left of the pub, so you don't have to walk through the pub. Our room was large, with a full ensuit. Shower over bath, lots of very hot water. The staff were all lovely & friendly. The hotel is located just off the A1 but we didn't hear any traffic. Large free carpark.
Decent breakfast, choices of fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, cereal, toast and the hearty full English.
Excellent family room with nice comfy king size double bed and single bed. Fab bathroom with bath and not just a shower like so many hotel rooms these days. Room and bathroom looked like they had been refurbished not long ago...........lovely, clean and fresh. Very comfortable place to stay and huge wall mounted TV an added bonus. Good breakfast with plenty of selection.
The hotel is located in a lovely little village. The staff are fantastic! The pub provides tasty and affordable meals and has a lovely atmosphere. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. I was especially pleased with the quality of the bed and that the room had a bath.
I found the place to be a little run down, we had issues with the water in our bathroom which was reported but couldn't be resolved.. We had to shower in another room, not ideal.
The bedrooms were clean, but the rest of the hotel needs a refurb.
This hotel was fantastic for the money. I was attending a wedding in a nearby hotel and this was perfect. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was spotless. I paid extra for breakfast which was well worth it too 10/10
Very nice hotel room was comfortable nice size room.food was lovely price was right staff were helpful and polite will return when we go visiting again.quiet at night so slept well.plenty of spaces on car park.
