Beautiful building well renovated. Very attentive and friendly staff who check you into your rooms and take your food orders in the lounge in a more relaxed and enjoyable environment. Our waiter was particularly good and professional while being funny which our guests enjoyed. We also did a tour of the grounds which was enjoyable. Rooms are small but comfortable and homely. Food at the restaurant was excellent.

Staff are not rated because we met none; the receipt of information and physical entry is exceptionally automated, including a YouTube video explaining the entry system and another of how to access the parking - which if you need to park, you absolutely must watch.

Many foreign tourists flock to London, York and Edinburgh. If you are looking for that traditional British experience Shrewsbury knocks spots off them. It’s simply a beautiful , historic city , easy to walk with fantastic independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The city blends the old traditional with a wave of young new retailers brightening up old businesses.

    Stayed for two nights.

Stayed for two nights. Visited Shrewsbury prison which was excellent. Easy to walk round. Would recommend the boat house pub at the river, fabulous food and lovely location drinks overlooking the river and park. Easy to walk round the town although hilly in parts. Good variety of pubs and restaurants some with lovely beer gardens to enjoy the sunshine. Great walk along the river.

Nice character hotel in the centre of the town, with parking at a moderate price for residents. Something not easy to find in Shrewsbury. Staff pleasant, helpful and professional . Nice big bedroom and a bath in the en suite,a big plus for us. Plenty of cafes and food outlets all around, good selection, if not eating in hotel. Our Son visited on his dads birthday and he was made welcome as well. A very enjoyable stay.

We have stayed in many 4 star hotels all over Europe and this was up with the best of them but at a cheaper price. Room was large and modern as was the en-suite and both were spotlessly clean. The welcome was very friendly and efficient. The breakfast had a good choice of options too. Lastly, the location was perfect with a large outside garden leading down to the river. Highly recommended.
