The house was spacious, perfect for the three of us, though up to 6 people could be comfortably accommodated. We did not use the kitchen to cook, but it was well-appointed with an assortment of dishes, pots and pans, and small appliances that would be great for an extended stay, and there are a couple of grocery stores in town. The wifi worked well. Laundry facilities were great and there was detergent available. The location is very quiet. Bathrooms had lots of extra towels. The dehumidifier was helpful when it was rainy. The backyard patio area was excellent, though we did not spend much time out there. The view is so peaceful, you can see the ocean, a small valley, and the mountains all from the backyard. There is a cow next door and he is very cute. He moos and wags his tail (!) when you get home. The price is a good value for an entire house and would be great for families or remote work. The town square in Povoação is very cute with dining options and markets. The welcome snacks were a nice touch. Belinda was available to answer questions and had good communication. We had a very late arrival, but were able to check ourselves in with a lockbox, and to update Belinda via WhatsApp. Check-in and check-out went smoothly. I slept well on the beds, which is a small miracle since I have insomnia.

Known for being the first settlement of Sao Miguel and now it is a pretty little town with old streets leading to the harbor. The local church, Nissan Senhora do Rosario is thought to have been the first parish on the island. The village is very small, not much to see.
The village is very small, not much to see. It's a quiet place and a nice place to relax. Unfortunately it's a bit too far from the tons of points of interest outside the village. The roads to the village provide a fantastic view for the car passengers but with a lot of steep curves.

Povoação is a small, quiet town on the southwest side of the island. It is right on the ocean and has a couple of local fresh seafood restaurants, a grocery store, post office, etc. and the town square is contained within a 3 block radius. It is easy to get around town by foot, but you need to have a car if you want to experience the rest of the island. It is a little off of the beaten path, but has great access to several walking trails. I liked that it was close to Furnas but had much more affordable accommodations.
