Love this place. I'd eaten at the Orchid restaurant a few times over the years but never stayed at the hotel. I really like how close it is to the exhibition centre, town and pubs. It's a little quaint and quirky too, which I also like; I prefer unique and individual hotels to the bigger, corporate ones. The room was great. Good view, comfy, bathroom well appointed and shower very good. This was a solo business trip but next time I'll come with my partner!

FAQs about hotels in Harrogate

Sophisticated Victorian Spa Town

The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.

The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.

One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.

Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.

Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.

I used to live in Ripon and work in Harrogate so know the area very well. I would always advise a trip to York, (taking the train is the best way), and a visit to Fountains Abbey is a must. You always have the whole of the Yorkshire Dales to explore as well, with plenty of activities for young and old, in a group or as a solo traveller. Harrogate itself has much to offer from the theatre, parks, cinema and a multitude of cafes and restaurants including the renowned Betty's Tea Rooms.

A beautiful place with friendly people. Great choice of places to eat and a good shopping area. Just a nice place to be. We eat at the Taverna Greek Restaurant and the food was amazing. I would definitely eat there again. Got dragged into Pandora and the staff were so friendly. The cenotaph was exceptionally maintained and had a street band playing nearby. Great street vibe with some exceptional bars nearby.

What a beautiful hotel in the best possible spot to enjoy Harrogate! The staff were just lovely Breakfast was great, lots of choice, fresh and hot We booked for 2 nights, as returning guests who had loved our first stay The only complaint we had was being placed in a room with twin beds and a view facing a brick wall This was rectified on our second night to a much more suitable room with double bed and lovely view...but at an additional cost to us

I needed a place next to the conference centre and this came up. I wasn’t disappointed at all, as it was less expensive than the conference hotel which was opposite but with about 4 times the size. Definitely recommend if you’re going to the convention centre or indeed as a base for exploring Harrogate
