My wife and I stayed here for the first leg of our Japan honeymoon. This hotel was in an excellent location, and the price point provided incredible value. The room wasn't nearly as small as we feared it would be - the layout is actually quite smart and utilizes the square footage in a way that makes the room feel much larger that it actually was. We had 2 checked bags and 2 carry-on backpacks and did not have any difficulty having our luggage in the room. The staff were very friendly. The hotel shares a ground floor with a cafe, which made getting breakfast very convenient.

FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

So much to see and do in such a great city.

So much to see and do in such a great city. There are many different neighbourhoods to explore. On a stay for 10 days I stayed in two different parts of the city. The parks and historic sites are beautiful. Be prepared to walk a lot! The train and subway network make getting around very easy. Getting the suica card makes the transition around the network super easy. The machines require cash, so once you have a card you are set. Easy signage at stations and google gives great tips on where to get on and off carriages.

We loved Tokyo - the subway system makes everything accessible quite easily. Tokyo National Museum in Ueno Park is wonderful. Lots of great city walks and culture. Food and drink is everywhere so no worries about going hungry! Ensure you have Google Maps and a Suica card in your wallet on your phone for the underground system and that will help enormously. Lots of great eateries are actually in the subway system.

The hotel is a 10-12 minute walk from Shinjuku station, in a nice leafy neighbourhood. There's a great park opposite. A taxi from Shinjuku station is about 900yen. It has a great bakery and bar downstairs, helpful staff, 3 fast lifts and a great area on the second floor to eat and drink. The rooms were pretty spacious with a desk and chair. Check in was easy and they sorted out a taxi to the airport in the early hours which was on time and reliable. Overall, great and felt like a somewhat peaceful retreat after a busy day in Tokyo.

The room was clean and nicely appointed. The WiFi was good and logging on to it was easy. The hotel is is a largely residential area with a good choice of shops and bars. The station is a few minutes walk away with good links across the city and a direct link to Shinjuku, Shibuya, and other well known areas. Kagurazaka is a very pleasant part of Tokyo and is an easy walk, it offers even more restaurants, bars, wine-bars. For beer lovers there are a few craft beer places nearby which serve a wide selection of first class beers.

The location is right in the middle of Shibuya and right next to Meiji-dori which makes walks to Harajuku much more accessible. My room had spectacular views and could see Shinjuku, skytree tower and even tokyo tower from another window. I also loved all of the dining options near the hotel. If you're feeling american - eggslut on the 2nd floor. if you're feeling japanese, then there are many options on the third floor of the mall that's connected to the hotel. Location wise, you can't beat Sequence.

The location of the hotel is great if you would like to be central to the tourist attractions. It's a short walking distance to Shinjuku station and also there is Tochomae subway station only few hundred metres from the hotel. The rooms were quite spacious in comparison to most hotels in Tokyo. The view from the room was great and depending on which side/floor your room is located you can see Mt Fuji on a clear day. A 7-11 and a Family Mart just below the hotel made it very convenient.

Great alternative to a hotel as it was spacious and had all the amenities perfect for a family, especially a kitchen and washing machine. Yoyogi station was a much easier station to navigate than Shibuya / Shinjuku, and the accomodation was located within easy walking distance, with a nearby supermarket and convenience store. Only thing to be aware of is the stairs, so if elderly or low in mobility, this may be an issue. Check in instructions were clear, and communication was prompt.

The hotel had a fantastic location, not too close to the busiest areas of Tokyo like Shibuya or Shinjuku and not so far that travel would be a hassle. I had a fantastic experience at the hotel, the staff was friendly and helpful and the living areas were exceptionally clean. There's a 7-11 right opposite the hotel so you have nothing to worry if you need anything 24x7. This place exceeded my expectations and I'm considering to stay here again when I visit Tokyo in the future!

We chose to have single rooms which after a long flight meant better sleeping for all of our family members. The single rooms are small, but reasonable, the bed is hard - which I don't like, but my husband does - but a good size. The staff were very helpful, especially considering our lack of Japanese. Close to the Tokyo Station. Very clean. I'd describe this hotel as a business hotel, one where businesspeople stay over night when in Tokyo for work.

This accommodation was a real bang for a buck! The host was nice and welcoming, responding to messages very quickly. The location was convenient and close to the main attractions of Shinjuku as well as the Shinjuku station. For the price, the room was a decent size (fitting all five of us) and had more facilities provided than in most hotels many times the cost. The main lobby of The Okura is a knock-out! My husband and I stayed in the Heritage wing of the hotel in a gorgeous, well-appointed , completely comfortable room with amazing views. It was our Tokyo dream room ––distinctly "Japanese" and modern at the same time. It was one of the nicest hotel rooms we've ever stayed in. On top of this, the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. We cannot wait to return!

I actually liked the location as it's well located by the metro station and it's midway between Shibuya/Shinjuku to the west and Asakusa to the north east. The area around the hotel is quiet and corporate but if you walk around you will discover a fair few bars/restaurants about 10 minutes away. Rooms were spotless and had a Japanese style bath and coffee capsules were provided everyday. The rooftop onsen was a welcome touch

Location! The perfect sweet spot between Harajuku and Shibuya crossing. You are close enough to walk to each in 5 minutes but also far away enough from the craziness. Right across from Family mart as well and Blue bottle coffee for early risers. The area is walkable with great food and fun shops that aren’t mainstream as well. Every little thing was thoughtful and had very clear instructions.. water pressure is very strong!! better than some hotels.. 3 mins walk from higashi shinjuku oedo line gate and 1 min walk from the exit, it’s really strategic..

Location worked out great. Not too far from the rail. Station/ Subway and also not that far of a walk to the Tokyo Tower.. Plus my sister and her husband were staying at the hotel across the street.

Staff was really kind and the hotel is located in a very beautiful and more quiet area of Tokyo which is still just a few stops on the Yamanote Line from the very busy areas like Shibuya/Shinjuku.

The location was a bit farther from train stations. However, the hotel was close to restaurants, cafes and Chou Park. I personally liked that it was away from the center of Shinjuku.

Location of hotel was quiet but close back into shinjuku, shibuya and tokyo. Great Bathroom size and overall size of room for Japan.
