Very little English translations of the French & Flemish announcements on the trains and train stations. We could not find a ticket office with a human presence at Central Station. Brussels has a lot to offer. Amazing buildings, with loads of character, even the modern buildings were impressive. I loved the beer !!!! Such a selection. Spoiled for choice and you didn't have to go very far, bars and restaurants everywhere. Lots of things and places to see. The best thing in the center was definitely the Grand Place at night - the lighting was amazing. We also visited inside the Atomium - I didn't even know they had a light show inside, and I loved it. We used the STIB/MIVB App for the public transport and were satisfied, tried the local waffles and fries with cheddar sauce (delicious). The best chocolate we have ever test is Belgian chocolate and also the lovely testy waffle. the food is good quality wherever you go there are many choice of restaurants. I liked that I was not overwhelmed by other tourists. I had just come from Amsterdam and I was feeling a little shocked by the amount of tourist there. I had the feeling that Brussels was not visited as much and there was so much to experience and enjoy. My expectations were low before I went there and my experience far surpassed my expectations. It is a cool city.
It is a cool city. The food was amazing, the Flemish stew was my favorite dish. Lots of different beer to try. I liked Saint-Gilles, the south part of the city. It is a "chill" area.
