Abbots Mead Hotel, hotel in Shrewsbury

In the heart of Shrewsbury town center, with free private parking and free Wi-Fi, this carefully preserved Georgian townhouse offers, 16 rooms with attached bathroom and a relaxing bar and lounge...

A lovely B&B, nicely decorated and in a great location at the bottom of town not far off the main street and close to several pubs and cafes. Clean and comfortable room, however two flights of stairs to the top floor can be a challenge for the elderly with luggage. Car parking available is a bonus but the limited spaces mean the hosts have to shuffle cars around which we didn't find to be a problem.

More to Shrewsbury than we anticipated. Don't miss the prison but check if you are eligible for any discounts (-20% for English Heritage Members, for instance). Lots of places for good food but note that many don't serve food after 7pm on Sundays.

To be honest, we made Shrewsbury a stop off point as we travelled to Wales for a weeks cottage holiday. We stopped on the 'way down' and on the 'way back', to break up long journeys. However, from our two half days in Shrewsbury it looks like a place for longer stays. The museum and art gallery were very interesting. The shopping areas were very good, with a good mix of larger names (M&S, Sea Salt, White Stuff ...) and independents. There were many eating places, but obviously we weren't able to make use of all but two in the town, both of which were very good. It looks like a place we will return to!

Shrewsbury is a great town to visit which we do several times a year. Summer time is definitely worth a visit but we go all year round and always enjoy ourselves. Full of history, quirky hotels, bars and restaurants and great for shopping. Umai restaurant is outstanding for us food always delicious. A trip on the river boat highly recommended. Several places to park all within a short distance of the centre.

The town is packed full of historic beautiful biuldings Riverside walk is an absolute must... Town centre to Castlefields especially. The Abbey, castle , and lots of one off shops. Hidden in nooks and crannies are such delights as the old post office the old prison and boutiques. Don't miss The Dingle gardens as you take the walk.

Everything was great. The room was very comfortable and we appreciated the extra little touches - homemade cookies, hot chocolate and coffee bags next to the kettle. The staff were all lovely. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, but the breakfast was fantastic and really extra - a two course breakfast! And it was included in the price! The location was great too, just outside of Shrewsbury and close to a beautiful National Trust property. We only stayed 1 night but we had a great time here.

About 4 miles from Shrewsbury Town Centre its perfect if you have a car although there is public transport available. Located in an industrial park its quiet in the evening so great for a good nights rest. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Breakfast is buffet style and good quality. Room was clean bed comfy bathroom good. Overall a good hotel to explore the area but would best be enjoyed if you have your own transport because of its remote location.

while close to the city of Shrewsbury, the property was beautifully situated in the Shropshire countryside offering picturesque views of the rolling hills and river. You could tell they had undergone recent renovations - everything still smelled new and looked fresh. the bath tubs are excellent for soaking after a long day outside. the food and bar (service and quality) all excellent. the Riverside inn was a little gem on our trip.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the historic centre of Shrewsbury. Formerly the home of Prince Rupert of the Rhine, it's a rambling old building with a lot of charm. My room was comfortable and warm with ensuite bathroom and I wanted for nothing. All the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. I didn't eat evening meals in the restaurant but breakfast was superb.

The rooms were excellent, beautiful furniature, large comfy bed. The breakfast lounge and breakfast was great. The staff were amazing. So much thought and effort by the management. Looking forward to my next visit to Shrewsbury. I usually stay in town and have stayed at most hotels but from now on will stay here as I get far more luxury for the money and it is very peaceful.

The hotel was lovely and a great location, around a 10 minute drive into Shrewsbury town centre (even used a taxi that was fairly cheap). The staff we saw were nice and had no issue with us checking in later than expected. The room was very clean and had a lovely bed and bathroom, tv included and also free Wi-Fi which was great! Would definitely stay again.

This was a great alternative to a hotel room. With this 2 bedroom apartment, although fairly small, it was larger than just a hotel room and had kitchen and laundry facilities which is helpful. It was an easy walk into town and we found a park for the car across the road.
