We enjoyed walking around Woodstock as well as visiting Blenheim Palace and park. The Star Inn pub was a favourite for a pint of beer as well as a couple of meals. Public transit from Oxford and to Chipping Norton is very easy.

A beautiful country town with quaint shops and a good selection of restaurants. We visited the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum for family reasons and found it very interesting with pleasant and friendly staff. The cafe within the grounds of the Museum is excellent.
We ate at the Punchbowl Inn both evenings and enjoyed our meals there very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend - not cheap but worth the money.
We also visited Blenheim, not the Palace but the park and gardens, just glorious!

A pleasant market town with pretty buildings, a range of shops including antiques. art and interior designs, as well as a butchers, a co-op and several pubs, restaurants and cafes. There were also 2 small museums.
Blenheim Palace was only a 10 minute walk from Woodstock. We spent 2 days visiting the Palace and its grounds, and felt we could have spent longer.
There was a frequent bus service into Oxford. Buses ran every half hour from about 5.30am to 11.30pm, cost £2, and the journey took about 40 minutes. We spent 2 days visiting Oxford and felt we could have spent longer.
The only downside about Woodstock was car parking, which was restricted to pay and display between 8.00am and 6.00pm every day.
There was a free car park near the fire station which allowed upto 12 hours stay in any 24 hour period.
For longer stays, 24 hour car parking permits could be purchased from the Council for £10 per day.

Beautiful small town.
Beautiful small town. Plentiful accommodation and restaurants, most of which were dog friendly. Ideal for visiting beautiful Blenheim Palace and nearby Oxford. We ate at Punchbowl pub , good friendly service, very dog friendly, food and drink good. Would not stay at Macdonald Bear next time but probably at one of the many pubs that had rooms.

Just a quiet ‘market’ town, mostly individual shops where all the staff working in them were genuinely interested in serving you and making conversation as to why you were visiting and where you’d come from.
I loved the hotel. But especially the staff. They were so friendly and polite and helpful. It is really amazing, we felt welcome and really looked after. We had dinner at the hotel and food was lovely, the service amazing. The breakfast was very good, excellent choice of food, they even had pancakes! The location was great, right in the centre of beautiful Woodstock and good access to all the pubs and also Blenheim Castle.
location was perfect in the market square, 5 minute stroll to the Woodstock entrance to Blenheim Palace grounds, quaintly attractive hotel, restaurant and coffee shop with modern amenities. Check the website as the Buttery has complimentary offers and discounts with local restaurant. Comfortable nights sleep, breakfast choices to suit all appetites. Staff where very helpful and available for any queries, local information.
Location, location, location! Lovely to have been able to stay so centrally. House was comfortable and just right for a short stay in Woodstock with Blenheim park virtually on the doorstep (if you know where the town gate is!) and plenty of shops to poke around and superb restaurants and pubs.
Woodstock is a lovely place to visit. The staff at The King's Arms were polite, friendly and efficient. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We thought the price of the room was very reasonable and we would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.
Actually outside of Woodstock a bit, but good parking and if you have a car it is very good for visiting Oxford, Woodstock/Blenheim Palace and/or spending a day in the Costwolds. Very good breakfast made to order. Small but clean room. Will return this June!
Room and hotel all looked recently refurbished. Very tastefully decorated. Easy check in and out. Very nice breakfast. Hotel is located right in the centre of Woodstock. The price is comparable with other hotels of the same high standard.
Excellent location in the middle of Woodstock with Blenheim Palace entrance 5 minutes walk away. Hotel was excellent with breakfast choice of cooked and buffet food. All staff were extremely helpful. Would certainly recommend.
From the friendly service we received on arrival, the beautiful rooms which exceeded our expectation for the price and the great value breakfast, I would highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a visit to Woodstock.
The bedroom was excellent. albeit with a rolling floor, due to the age of the property.
Check-out was 10.00a.m., but our hotel parking permit ran out at 12.00 noon, giving us time to explore Woodstock before moving on.
The location was good for us, parking was available, but the hotel imposed a charge. The bed was comfortable, and the room was large with adequate facilities.
