The hotel was beautifully decorated and in a great location for sightseeing in and around Woodstock. We loved the size and decor of the upgraded room. Good hot breakfast options.

Beautiful small town. Plentiful accommodation and restaurants, most of which were dog friendly. Ideal for visiting beautiful Blenheim Palace and nearby Oxford. We ate at Punchbowl pub , good friendly service, very dog friendly, food and drink good. Would not stay at Macdonald Bear next time but probably at one of the many pubs that had rooms.

Just a quiet ‘market’ town, mostly individual shops where all the staff working in them were genuinely interested in serving you and making conversation as to why you were visiting and where you’d come from.

Our trip was fundamentally to view the lights and the house at Blenheim Palace; the theme was Sleeping Beauty.
We arrived at about 3pm. Just right as dusk was setting in. We toured the house which was utterly incredible - How a person or company could put together such a phenomental piece of design, unchanging in its beauty, throughout the rooms that had been decorated to continue the theme - I do not know. To continue outside and see the light display was nothing short of sensational - it lit up the whole of the 1.5 miles of the walking tour and the evening sky. An unforgettable experience. The next day we shopped through the village enjoying its ancient buildings and some of the shops filled with objects d`art , clothes, furniture and lighting. An experience that cannot be better but can be changed...........in summer.

Woodstock is a pretty medieval town with many eateries, interesting shops, a free museum, lots of walks and, of course, Blenheim Palace nestled next to it in all its splendour.
Apart from the main Street, there are many attractive side streets to explore.
The buildings are attractive, being made from the local stone which was also used to build Blenheim Palace. They appear to ‘glow’ in the sun.

Woodstock has everything you could want from a small town – plenty of nice pubs that serve food, independent cafes and shops, including a great little independent bookshop and Louisa Maybury’s amazing textile shop.
The room was a good size, the bathroom was very good and the bed very comfortable.
Breakfast was very good with a good choice.
Dinner was superb. Delicious duck and apple tart tatin. (We had one dinner in the hotel). There were quite a few other places to eat nearby.
The reception staff and staff in the dining room were very friendly and pleasant.
It is a short stroll to Blenheim Palace and Woodstock is a great historic town.
From the moment we checked in, the staff were so lovely and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and had options for all dietary requirements.
The location itself was lovely - Woodstock is such a lovely town and there is a bus stop just outside the hotel which goes to and from Oxford City Centre!
Overall would highly, highly recommend and if I ever find myself nearby Woodstock I would love to stay there again!
The staff were really kind and helpful and we felt very welcome in this very characterful hotel. We had dinner on two evenings and the food was superb. The location in Woodstock could not have been better as we wanted to visit Blenheim Palace which is within easy walking distance of the hotel in a quiet street. There is a nice reading room with the day's papers available which I enjoyed using.
The hotel is decorated and furnished with style and is extremely comfortable. The breakfast room is bright and the service is prompt and there is a good breakfast menu. The Marlborough Arms is in the heart of the delightful Woodstock with its many restaurants and pubs. The glorious Blenheim Palace is a short walk away. There are frequent buses to Oxford from outside the hotel.
The interiors have been modernised without impacting the hotels character which we loved, protecting that Cotswold country feel. The room was very clean and comfortable and was the perfect hideaway for a night in Woodstock. The bed is also super comfy and there is an air conditioner/heater if you need it. It’s very close to Blenheim place.
The room was modern, clean and cosy. The hotel itself was quiet and in a good location, not far from Woodstock and the staff were very attentive, friendly and cooked a wonderful breakfast. The Wifi is exceptionally fast, including upload speed (the fastest I've ever seen) and the free parking was a bonus!
Location, location, location! Lovely to have been able to stay so centrally. House was comfortable and just right for a short stay in Woodstock with Blenheim park virtually on the doorstep (if you know where the town gate is!) and plenty of shops to poke around and superb restaurants and pubs.
It is a nice clean friendly little place. It’s basic, but well worth it for the money. The bed was super comfortable with breakfast included and it’s in a great location. We came as we were visiting Blenheim Palace which is literally next door. Woodstock is a realty pretty place to visit.
Room very clean, comfortable and warm. Manageress Yvonne and her staff were very welcoming and helpful. Very good cooked breakfast. Woodstock is a charming Cottswold town with many interesting little shops, and a Saturday Market close to the hotel.
it is a beautiful pub with rooms upstairs—completely lovely. It is the closest hotel to Blenheim as well. the food and the people were extraordinarily great.
