FAQs about hotels in Llandudno

Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist

The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.

A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.

A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.

Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.

The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

We went up the Great Orme using the Tram which was fun.

We went up the Great Orme using the Tram which was fun. The cable cars weren't working, but with the high wind, I can't say I wasn't surprised! The mines were good. (made me ache like mad the next day as used every muscle in my body - watch out if you're tall!) Llandudno town is on the flat, easy to walk about.. Don't rely on the cable cars being open, or the Owl Sanctuary, that was a disappointment as it was shut, to go and see the seals, you need to be into your walking, There are some great restaurants too. Mostyn Tandoori was excellent, even the Indians eat there!! We went to The Cottage Loaf pub, wonderful, and Dino's which is a burger bar, I think more the younger generation! But perfectly cooked and presented!

Set in a stunning location, Llandudno is always an attractive location. However, it shuts early. There are a couple of first-rate "tap rooms" selling locally made beer (Wild Horse Brewing) and other Welsh brews - one in town- Tapps and one at CraigY Don - Ascot, but they often close at 9pm. There are some great restaurants, but they too, all seem to close at 9pm. The search goes on. I can highly recommend the Penderyn Whisky tour, and the cable car ride to the top of the Great Orme. If it's too windy for the cable car, the tram is a lovely option to the top of the Orme.

Llandudno is town focussed on tourism, with multiple eateries and coffee shops, a range of amusements, 2 large beaches, and parks for children, plenty of easy access walking around the town, with longer walks and the Great Orme to climb up (or use the railway!). It has plenty of bus routes to go exploring, both nearby (e.g. Conwy) and further afield if you are not using or coming by car.

The hotel was very fresh and clean, I think possibly it has had a recent repaint as everything was perfect. Great location on the seafront, clean and cute room with sea view, comfortable bed and pillows. Information provided in the room gave us everything we needed for a quick turnaround and out to dinner. In room and breakfast facilities covered all bases. Communication from the hotel was relevant and timely, no-nonsense entry to hotel with door code texted before arrival. Really good value for money and would definitely recommend.

position of hotel we had a.sea view room. Staff worked hard and there were not a lot of them. a 3 course meal from a set menu was £20 which we thought good value. This is predominately a coach stay hotel and was better than we were expecting. we booked to meet up with someone on a coach trip who was staying there. people need to remember these hotels have all struggled in the last 2 years and yes it’s tired jn parts but they need visitors to generate income to resolve this. Would stay again.

Loved the location we have stayed here before and was perfect , totally different experience this time ! We don’t live near the sea so when we go to Llandudno a sea view is our main priority when booking a hotel , unfortunately we were never told our views were obscured by scaffolding , I understand works have to be done but I would never have booked if I had known and think this is very unfair when you’re looking forward to your weekend away!!

First time visitors to the Imperial, Llandudno and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was very comfortable, clean and spacious with a side sea view 😃. The breakfast was very tasty with lots of choice as well as catering for alternative dietary needs. The staff in all areas of the hotel were friendly and responded quickly to our request to change the dressing gowns in the room which had clearly shrunk in the wash.
