Stayed for a wedding. The accommodation was very comfortable. Pool, jacuzzi, and sauna facilities very welcome the next day. Breakfast pretty good. Room neat and spacious. Location is very pretty -- very golf-orientated. The staff took very good care both of me and of the wedding party overall.

FAQs about hotels in Plymouth

Life By the Ocean Wave

From prehistory to the present, the very essence of Plymouth has been inextricably linked to the sea. The Pilgrim Fathers departed from here and named their new Massachusetts settlement after it, and Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game of bowls on The Hoe before combatting the Spanish Armada.

Western Europe’s largest naval base – HMNB Devonport – is in its natural harbour, and in The Barbican fishing boats bob up and down by cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. Jacka Bakery here is the oldest in Britain and there are plenty of galleries, bars and restaurants, though Union Street has the best nightlife.

At one end of the street is the Theatre Royal, and from the other ferries depart to France and Spain, passing the Mount Batten peninsula and offshore rocks that once housed Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, now in Hoe Park next to the Royal Citadel.

Overlooking the park is the Lord Mayor’s residence, once home to Waldorf and Nancy Astor, and other street and building names are reminders of Plymouth’s illustrious connections.

Other attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the City Museum and Art Gallery and Grade II-listed Saltram House. All are easily reached from Booking.com’s Plymouth accommodation, including luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap guest houses and country houses with parking.

Plymouth is a lively and interesting city in a spectacular coastal location. The view from the Hoe looking out over the harbors to the neighboring sea is breathtaking. We stayed in the Barbican area right on the water above the Mayflower Steps at the Admiral McBride pub. The National Aquarium and Mayflower Museum are only steps away plus numerous restaurants, bistros, pubs, and shops. Plus it’s the home of Sir Francis Drake. The Town Centre was an easy walk uphill. Several car hires are within easy walking distance as well if you plan to visit neighboring Cornwall.

The main entrance has two short flights of stairs up to reception and no lift in that part of the building. Difficult for people with heavy luggage etc and the back entrance is confusing for new visitors (ok once you get a feel for the place). A couple of days in Plymouth itself is probably enough but the hotel is conveniently close to both the train station and bus depot making it easy to do day trips to Exeter, Penzance, Torquay, Totnes etc

We really enjoyed the stay because of many aspects such as where it is located and how close it is to everything, like the sea was only a 4 minute walk and so was the tesco express. The hotel is very friendly to dogs and it is very welcoming. When you first come in Nigel greets you and answers any questions about Plymouth that you would like to know and also hands out a map to you pointing out the best places where to visit. The most important part is that you are guaranteed parking space for a very little price. We are really enjoying.

The whole hotel is being refurbished, inside and out. Our room was pristine, with new carpets, furniture and bathroom. This is a gorgeous, grand Victorian building with many original features. The dining room has impressive high ceilings and plasterwork.and original sash windows, Cooked breakfast was by pre-order and included in the price. It was hot, freshly cooked and our specific needs (vegetarian) were catered for. The staff were pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. This hotel is literally a minute's walk from Plymouth Hoe.

excellent value for money, but it is university halls accommodation and general cleanliness is what is to be expected for such a premises, which is below what you might expect for a small hotel etc. But it is centrally located in Plymouth and no complaints regarding the stay cost. A good cheap / budget option if you're there for a couple of days. Parking is nearby on a pay per hour basis, £1.50 per hour, or £2 for overnight after 6pm - 8am, which again is good value.
