We stayed at the most amazing Malmaison hotel, and honestly, it took my breath away from the moment we arrived! 🌟 The building itself was a masterpiece — inside and out, it was flawless. The design, the architecture, the atmosphere… everything felt like it belonged in a luxury magazine. The views? Oh my goodness — absolutely spectacular! Every time I looked out, it felt like a postcard come to life. The staff were beyond wonderful — so kind, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our stay perfect. Every little detail was thought of. Yes, it was a bit of a distance from the city, but that’s exactly what gave it its charm — peaceful, private, and beautifully secluded. And we chose it for that very reason, which

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Something for everyone in Edinburgh if you are prepared to walk round and explore, also easy to escape the busy old town and fringe if you need to chill. Head to the New Town & walk the water of Leith to Stockbridge & Canonmills, plenty of excellent pubs, cafes and restaurants off the beaten track offering better value than in the center.

Edinburgh has to a large extent retained its original buildings, small shop businesses, and architrecture. You can feel their proud history and impact on the British Empire. Safe, secure, and clean, but watch out for some really steep walking! The Castle area is wonderful, and the Castle the centre piece of this great City. A must visit is the Edinburgh Tattoo! The unique pipe band blows pride and history through every note. The uniforms and regalia are historic. Friendly people who still TALK to visitors!

We were there Monday to Thursday.

We were there Monday to Thursday. Edinburgh during the fringe is a bit manic but fun. We went for the Tattoo which was cancelled due to storm Floris. We used the hop on hop off bus's with commentary to see as much as possible which was interesting and informative. We also booked a coach trip to see the Hairy Coos and Loch Ness (including a boat ride which was informative) it was a lot of coach and not much Ness still a good day out as lots of lovely scenery and a great tour guide. We went on the Extreme Paranormal Underground Ghost Tour in Edinburgh which my daughter booked through Booking.com. This was the biggest disappointed of our stay. It is not extreme and not a thing about ghosts or paranormal activity was mentioned. The guide was late said he had a bad day and was tired. He had no make up and we were rushed around. We would not recommend this unless you want a tour about Greyfriars Bobby and where JK Rowling got a few names for characters in Harry Potter amongst a few minor historical facts about throwing the buckets of waste out of the windows and pinning children's hands on a door. then save your money. Overall we had a great time and are going back again next year to hopefully see the Tattoo.

I like this place - the staff are really helpful and it is a comfortable, clean and affordable place to stay near to the city centre where hotel prices soar and you don't get any more for your money. Recommend the hotel for a great stay in Edinburgh, and the parking is handy even if they have put on a price on it more recently, but still affordable.

This was a relatively cheap ( by Edinburgh standards) 2* hotel, so I wasn't expecting too much. The room was large and reasonably clean, although it wasn't cleaned the second day of our stay. Not too far from the city centre with buses nearby.
