FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol features Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the Avon River. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbor, where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I registered historic Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St. Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centers at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artist Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodations, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath rail line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

We stopped off in Bristol for the night on our way to Pembrokeshire from Brighton. I would definitely recommend a stay in Bristol. In our short time we walked along the River Avon to see Banksy's Girl with Pearl Earring and the scenic Clifton Suspension bridge. The Clifton area of Bristol is beautiful with Georgian mansion houses alongside wide roads. We popped into the lovely Greville Smyth Park where my 14 year old (and I) had a play in the playground.

Great vibrant city - live music, comedy, restaurants, bars, museums - it’s got the lot. 100% recommend the Mshed museum (free entry) to learn about Bristol’s history, to explore the waterfront area with its bars and restaurants, see a Banksy or two, and climb Cabot Tower for 360degree views out over the city and surrounding areas!

A very characterful and vibrant city, albeit confusing to motorists due to poor decisions by the Council on road layouts. Best to take the park and ride which we would have done had the Council allowed you to leave your car overnight.

There was a bus stop just outside the flat which made travelling without a car much easier. Buses were frequent.Shops, cafes and other facilities were a bus ride away or in walking distance. There were several parks nearby to keep a small child entertained. Our reason for being in Bristol was for a family occasion so we didn’t access the attractions of Bristol on this occasion. Being familiar with the city we know it’s a good place for a city break.

Fascinating place, with a unique culture, social and art vibe. A vibrant city, with lots to explore and several day trips not far away - including Bath for the history and beauty, the bike rail trail between Bath and Bristol and Cheddar Gorge for outdoor recreation. The Blackbeard to Banksy walking tour in Bristol was also excellent, with a great balance of contemporary and historical information and sights. Highly recommend and trip to this region.

City centre hotel but we got a great deal on the room, going for the Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Room was downstairs, so was very quiet and appeared new. Lovely, comfortable bed, excellent shower and only wished we could have had more time there. Breakfast was standard buffet with everything you could wish for. Not the cheapest at £16 per person but very nice, none the less.

Excellent location and surprisingly quiet for such a city centre hotel Staff were really friendly. We have a reactive dog so needed a quiet room away from the escalator. They did their best to accommodate us and were really helpful. The hotel bar was really relaxed; it was a lovely stay.
