I think Cortona lacks out door eating and calling cafes ....mind you I did visit in January but other cities have outdoor heaters so that visitors or even locals can enjoy sitting out on clear sunny but cold days. Not much option if any if you are wanting to eat between 3 and 8pm ... but finding most places in Italy in the small historical towns are the same. So make sure you either have a late breakfast or stop in time to get some lunch in! :)))

It is a very beautiful medieval city close at the border of Tuscany and Umbria. It is definitely not an easy walk city as there are not so many flat streets. But it is worth it!
From Piazza Garibaldi, you could have a very nice view to Tuscany.
You find few parking lots around the city but from there you need to walk few stairs to actually get in to the city.
The italian ice cream, of course, is unbeatable. I can also recommend Cortona Bistrot. I think I have eaten there one of the best tiramisu.
The city is worth for couple of days' visit but the surroundings are also very nice (e.g. Lake Trasimeno).

The food, the view, the feel of history, I loved Cortona.
The food, the view, the feel of history, I loved Cortona. Cortona is very small, I came in once during a three day stay. Considering that it was 50 euro to drive in to town I would have only came back in for another dinner if I was with a group. Be ready to walk uphill! I walked all the way to the top and then made my way down to eat. Sadly I can’t remember the name of the restaurant I went to but it was tiny with a family feel and the food was incredible

Beautiful, romantic, old place!
Beautiful, romantic, old place! An ideal experience - away from the crowds and chaos of top destinations like Florence, but at the same time providing every element of romantic and beautiful Tuscany and ancient Italy in general!
The hotel suite we upgraded to was beautiful and had a lovely balcony with gorgeous views (and 2 bathrooms). It was so central and had the added benefit of valet parking for an add'l charge of just 20 Euro. The staff were incredible. They were so gracious upon our arrival and also assisted with our luggage. Breakfast was also a pleasure in their breakfast room with table service. Have been to Cortona many times but never stayed here before. Will definitely come back and highly recommend it!
Beautiful historical building over looking an idyllic country side. The room was spacious and cool.
The staff went above and beyond to help us! From offering site seeing recommendations to locating a lost bag and arranging delivery to our next hotel, they were extremely supportive.
The pool was a favourite of my daughters and the suntanning was a dream.
The breakfast spread was expansive and generous with more than enough options to please everyone.?
perfect villa to enjoy the countryside of Tuscany and especially Cortona.
large beds, comfortable room, outstanding private garden (space for cars) with dining table surrounded by olive trees…
It is only 10 minutes walking from the centre of Cortona town.
The view is unique.
…a real dream location.
the staff is nice and precise in everything.
I will be back soon.
I strongly recommend it.
Lovely apartment with all the facilities we needed. We felt like we were staying in a medieval home with all mod cons. It is quiet, comfortable and there is a view down to the valley. The lady who met us and took us into the apartment was very friendly and helpful - she gave us some excellent restaurant tips. We've been to quite a few Italian hill towns now and Cortona is one of the best.
Everything was perfect ! A beautiful hotel with beautiful garden in a great location -few min. drive to Cortona .
Lovely staff, great breakfast , beautiful room and excellent restaurant for dinner .
David the owner pays attention to every little detail and makes sure that everything will be perfect .
It’s a great hotel to have a quiet relaxing vacation in Tuscany .
Great hotel with stunning mountain views. The hotel is in an ideal location in Cortona with friendly staff and good facilites. The room was a good size and very clean. There is a great terrace to have a drink or read, and the breakfast room offers great views. It is walking distance to the main square and shops, which is a flat route and near the public garden.
The location is just perfect. One of the best experiences I ever had. The hotel is simple, more like a B&B. The owner, Paola, is just a wonderful person, making you feel like you are at home. The breakfast have some of here own home made bread and cakes. The building, like the whole town, has its own history, built over 600 years ago...
The Resort is an Villa that has been converted to a hotel. It was very well kept inside as well as outside. They have a restaurant on site that serves breakfast daily as well as being open for lunch and dinner. There is plenty of free parking available and it is in a good location to visit Cortona.
The villa is beautiful and comfortable and the property was lovely with the olive trees, views, etc. Location is ideal, just a few minute's drive from Cortona and convenient to many other places in Tuscany and Umbria. The host was helpful in recommending places and answering our questions.
Beautiful property near Cortona! The most wonderful and warm hosts, Alessandra and her son Gianmarco, made us feel some welcome. They had the best tips for places to visit and restaurants to go to. Our apartment was lovely and had everything we needed. We had a wonderful stay!
Le Terre was remarkable property. surrounded by beautiful countryside with views of Cortona and a hillside fortress with olive trees and wine vines. if you go in July- August, it is surrounded by sunflowers. The pool is gorgeous and so relaxing. Truly the epitome of Tuscany.
Nice, clean and comfortable apartment. Very well decorated with smart solutions for everything, spectacular view, quiet area and good matresses. Simona was extremely helpful. Definetely recommended! Cortona is amazing place like almost everything in Tuscany.
Amazing view from the hotel. Great localization in the city of Cortona. Spa is awesome. Breakfast was very good, and the bar was top (shoutout to Claudio😊). The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Good spot to visit Siena, Perugia and Lago Trasimeno.
Great Location on the main street of Cortona, large and comfortable apartment, well-appointed kitchen. Very nice that there was a turn around steps form the apartment to drop family off before parking the car outside the town walls.
This was by far the worst of the 5 agriturismos we stayed at in our 3 week trip around Tuscany. Some aspects were good - large room, very quiet, beautiful linen. The location was perfect for Cortona.
Wonderful in every way! Close proximity to the center of Cortona which is one of our favorite towns to visit in Italy…definitely one of the best places to stay!
