Wonderful family run property. Amazing location for relaxing and enjoying the grounds and central for all travel around Tuscany. This was our second time here and will return!

The house is located in a country side, surrounded by wineyards and olive trees, on a hill, with a very picturesque view. There is a large free parking lot close to the house. The apartments were clean and spacious, very authentic. The host was great in communications, they also produce and cell the local wine and olive oil. We found a bottle of wine as a welcome on the desk.
Located 0.9 mi from Certaldo Train Station, Osteria Del Vicario offers a garden, free Wi-Fi and a restaurant service. The private bathroom features free toiletries and hairdryer.

We had a lovely stay here!
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the place has character (in a good way!), it felt unique, comfortable and cozy. It added to our overall experience in Certaldo Alto and the area in general. The breakfasts were delicious, and were lucky to dine in their restaurant one evening for a delicious vegan meal. Enjoying the views and perhaps a spritz from the terrace was also enjoyable. Erik was a wonderful, kind host always available to help with anything or offer recommendations. Thank you!

Everything was perfect. Amazing sommelier and wine tasting, great help coordinating electric bike rentals and massages, astounding grounds and views, and the panoramic room exceeded all expectations. Also — I’ve never stayed at a better smelling property. What a hidden gem!

The old city is wonderful. Worth to visit. Good restaurants in the neighbourhood. I recommend to have a dinner in Marchese Val d’Elsa. View is stunning and food delicious. And the trip to go there is beautiful with absolutely great views. You need a car. It’s a 20 min trip.

Certaldo was the perfect place to stay in Chianti region of Tuscany. It had a train station so we could make our own way around to explore and sightsee. When visiting towns without a train, we took a taxi (NCC). Several people we met had rented cars and they found the area to be very drivable. Certaldo Basso (lower town) and Certaldo Alto (up the hill) are connected by scenic, natural walking paths and for those who prefer something easier, the very quaint Funiculare (1.5 Euro return). We stayed in Certaldo Alto, the historic centre of town. In addition to the fascinating museums - do not miss the Nail Museum - there are B & B's , apartments, and a lovely hotel. There are wonderful dining spaces inside and outside, bars and the wonderful Gelateria! In terms of crowds, there were occasional groups of tourists in Certaldo Alto but many times we were the only people walking down the cobbled roads in the middle of the day. The peace and quiet was most welcome after the throngs of people in Florence and Siena. Certaldo is a very special place. nestled in the heart of Tuscany.

This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy...
This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy for its history and access to both Florence and Siena. Additionally, this town is the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio and his featured in his major literature piece, The Decameron.
The new part of town is accessible with simple 10 minutes walks or via a mini railway (for a charge of €1,50); but you can also drive, thanks to the host who will manage getting the required permits.
Certaldo is very small but it sits at the crossroad of major communication roads, therefore it's easy to access Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, and even Pisa.

It's very pretty hilltop settlement but you can see everything in half an hour. The funicular is fun but a little restrictive if you need to leave early. There are some great restaurants. It's the ideal stop-off for lunch if you are traveling back to Pisa from further south in Tuscany but not a great base for wider exploration.

Certaldo is very beautiful! Go to see the old town. There is enough space for parking near the funicolare, the transport up hill.
Certaldo is central for visiting Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra and Florence. And you'll be driving through the most romantic landscape.

We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours.
We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours. New part not much shopping or restaurants. Supermarket we visited as we had a kitchen and stayed 5km out. Close to other old towns worth visiting like Volterra.
We bought olive oil and wine from our accomodation which we loved.
We loved this property! It was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and in a great location. We were able to walk to coffee shops, great restaurants, and historical Certaldo Alto. We loved how friendly Elisabetta was to us. She met us there to give us the keys and walk us through the property. She also offered to be “family” to our daughter who is studying abroad there through East Carolina University. When we were leaving, she met is to collect the keys and tell us goodbye. It is evident that she cares that people enjoy their stay there.
Great hotel. Initially we found it hard to find parking at the free parking area near the funicular railway station, as there was a weekend market in the parking area. We contacted the hotel, and we were then able to drive into the ZTL to unload our cases at the hotel. Alfred, the host then showed us the location for free parking nearby. The hotel was excellent and well maintained. The room was fine and very clean. There is a good restaurant at the hotel. Certaldo is a fascinating small historic town. We enjoyed our stay, here.
From the welcome to the check-out, everything was perfect. The room was very spacious and immaculately clean. We spent a peaceful night without any noise or anything that could disturb our sleep. The area around the hotel is very pleasant and picturesque, from the swimming pool, to the gardens, to the small river that runs past the main building. The breakfast was well above our expectations and the lady who welcomed us in the room was extraordinary, giving us suggestions of places to visit in the city. An experience to be repeated.
Patricia and Toni were very friendly host and made us feel like family. Nothing was to much trouble for them. The rooms with light, airy and modern. The pool area and views are incredible. A buffet breakfast is served every morning overlooking the Tuscany country side. You can even pre order your preferred croissant the day before! There is also a self service area with drinks and snacks at reasonable prices if you need refreshments during the day! I would highly recommend staying at this hotel and will be returning in the future.
This place was absolutely beautiful!! The scenery was everything you could imagine Tuscany to be! The property was very clean and comfortable. The staff were amazing!! So accommodating and just really nice and personable. We dealt a lot with Martin at the reception desk. But everyone is really wonderful!! Also take one of the wine tours. The sommelier was amazing!! Very easy to talk with but extremely knowledgeable. Obviously can not say enough about this place. You just have to experience it!!!
if you want the total Tuscany feel this is it, perched high on a hill overlooking the Tuscan hills, this small medieval town with cobblestone streets has everything you need, several restaurants and shops in the village, breakfast is served on the patio with gorgeous views...Keep in mind this building is old, rooms are small, No AC ...I would definitely recommend staying in the cooler months... Eric was amazing always there for whatever was needed and served us a great breakfast every morning
I loved everything the hostess the location the property is beautiful very clean easy access if you have children or older family great neighbourhood very close to the town and beautiful location the owner speaks English and that’s a massive bonus if you don’t speak Italian like myself 😆 and anything you need they are there.
I can’t praise anymore about this place
first time in Italy and I could not be happier
thank you so much ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As soon as you enter Certaldo Alto, this wonderful fairy tale begins. The village is as authentic as can be, the accommodation fits seamlessly into it. Owner Sasha is like all the other villagers, friendly and helpful. The rooms of her accommodation are atmospheric and fully equipped, the breakfast is very extensive. It is a great base for exploring the area, Antica Torre del Borgo added the max value to our Tuscan roadtrip. Loved it!!
The appartment was as it looks in the pictures and even better.
It is spacious, beautiful, with a fully equiped kitchen and a wonderful balcony.
Nicolas, the, host is very helpful
Certaldo is calm with just the right amount of visitors during the day, with great places to visit and to eat and have a glass of wine, very conventiently located for easy visits to other places in Tuscany
We wanted a quiet villa in Tuscany…we got that in this 500 yr old…well maintained…working farm/villa. Our hostess was so welcoming and encouraged us to be “at home” there. Good breakfast a d on one night Simona cooked us a fabulous candlelight Tuscan meal to enjoy under the huge chestnut tree.
The wine they produce was some of the best I have had. It was so beautiful there
Lovely place, the hosts were really nice and really made us feel "at home".
There's a lot of room on the property to go for short walks or simply sit around and enjoy nature. The views were amazing and the cat gets extra bonus points. :)
Very close to Certaldo, which is definitely worth a visit, with it's cable car and castle.
The home was absolutely lovely. Very well decorated and spacious. The location was great, just a couple blocks away from the main square and a 10 min walk to the historical center of Certaldo. The host was extremely nice and tentative. I really loved visiting this town and could not have picked a better place to stay! 10/10!
We loved everything about the property! This is a large, beautiful bed and breakfast home in Certaldo! It looks like stepping into the pages of a fairy tale! High ceilings, beautifully decorated rooms, very comfortable beds, and overall just perfect! Thankful for their great hospitality, as well!
The hotel is located perfectly in the old town. The room was large, clean and ideal for our needs. The hosts were fantastic and gave us excellent instructions on how to find the hotel. The breakfast was amazing. One of the highlights of our stay. Would definitely recommend!
A beautiful family-owned agriturismo in the Tuscan landscape. Beautiful views, and from a walkable distance to Certaldo Alto. I received a wine from the agriturismo as a welcome gift. The family was very hospitable. Definitely recommend :)!
The charm of staying in a medieval building. We loved the decorating of the rooms. Everything was super clean. We loved being in the heart of Certaldo and right around the corner from a great restaurant that Sasha recommended.
Fantastic location with 360 degree panoramic views of Tuscany. Perfect place to relax and unwind. Very pleasant staff. Within easy reach (by car) of many beautiful medieval cities such as Certaldo Alto, Sam Gimignano..
