The house is located in a country side, surrounded by wineyards and olive trees, on a hill, with a very picturesque view. There is a large free parking lot close to the house. The apartments were clean and spacious, very authentic. The host was great in communications, they also produce and cell the local wine and olive oil. We found a bottle of wine as a welcome on the desk.
Located 0.9 mi from Certaldo Train Station, Osteria Del Vicario offers a garden, free Wi-Fi and a restaurant service. The private bathroom features free toiletries and hairdryer.

We had a lovely stay here!
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the place has character (in a good way!), it felt unique, comfortable and cozy. It added to our overall experience in Certaldo Alto and the area in general. The breakfasts were delicious, and were lucky to dine in their restaurant one evening for a delicious vegan meal. Enjoying the views and perhaps a spritz from the terrace was also enjoyable. Erik was a wonderful, kind host always available to help with anything or offer recommendations. Thank you!

Everything was perfect. Amazing sommelier and wine tasting, great help coordinating electric bike rentals and massages, astounding grounds and views, and the panoramic room exceeded all expectations. Also — I’ve never stayed at a better smelling property. What a hidden gem!

The old city is wonderful. Worth to visit. Good restaurants in the neighbourhood. I recommend to have a dinner in Marchese Val d’Elsa. View is stunning and food delicious. And the trip to go there is beautiful with absolutely great views. You need a car. It’s a 20 min trip.

Certaldo was the perfect place to stay in Chianti region of Tuscany. It had a train station so we could make our own way around to explore and sightsee. When visiting towns without a train, we took a taxi (NCC). Several people we met had rented cars and they found the area to be very drivable. Certaldo Basso (lower town) and Certaldo Alto (up the hill) are connected by scenic, natural walking paths and for those who prefer something easier, the very quaint Funiculare (1.5 Euro return). We stayed in Certaldo Alto, the historic centre of town. In addition to the fascinating museums - do not miss the Nail Museum - there are B & B's , apartments, and a lovely hotel. There are wonderful dining spaces inside and outside, bars and the wonderful Gelateria! In terms of crowds, there were occasional groups of tourists in Certaldo Alto but many times we were the only people walking down the cobbled roads in the middle of the day. The peace and quiet was most welcome after the throngs of people in Florence and Siena. Certaldo is a very special place. nestled in the heart of Tuscany.

This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy...
This Medieval Borgo ranks among the most important in Italy for its history and access to both Florence and Siena. Additionally, this town is the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio and his featured in his major literature piece, The Decameron.
The new part of town is accessible with simple 10 minutes walks or via a mini railway (for a charge of €1,50); but you can also drive, thanks to the host who will manage getting the required permits.
Certaldo is very small but it sits at the crossroad of major communication roads, therefore it's easy to access Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, and even Pisa.

It's very pretty hilltop settlement but you can see everything in half an hour. The funicular is fun but a little restrictive if you need to leave early. There are some great restaurants. It's the ideal stop-off for lunch if you are traveling back to Pisa from further south in Tuscany but not a great base for wider exploration.

Certaldo is very beautiful! Go to see the old town.
Certaldo is very beautiful! Go to see the old town. There is enough space for parking near the funicolare, the transport up hill.
Certaldo is central for visiting Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra and Florence. And you'll be driving through the most romantic landscape.

We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours.
We visited the old city of Certaldo in 2 hours. New part not much shopping or restaurants. Supermarket we visited as we had a kitchen and stayed 5km out. Close to other old towns worth visiting like Volterra.
We bought olive oil and wine from our accomodation which we loved.
We loved this property! It was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and in a great location. We were able to walk to coffee shops, great restaurants, and historical Certaldo Alto. We loved how friendly Elisabetta was to us. She met us there to give us the keys and walk us through the property. She also offered to be “family” to our daughter who is studying abroad there through East Carolina University. When we were leaving, she met is to collect the keys and tell us goodbye. It is evident that she cares that people enjoy their stay there.

A charming 16th century farmhouse, updated with modern comforts and tastefully decorated with the original features, wine processing equipment, barrels and accessories. Located on a hill with an incredible view over the hills of Tuscany from an open terrace, it was quiet and out in the country offering walks and strolls along Tuscan roads. Excellent breakfast. Claudia and her staff were helpful in every situation and went beyond the expected to make our stay pleasant. Highly recommended!!
As soon as you enter Certaldo Alto, this wonderful fairy tale begins. The village is as authentic as can be, the accommodation fits seamlessly into it. Owner Sasha is like all the other villagers, friendly and helpful. The rooms of her accommodation are atmospheric and fully equipped, the breakfast is very extensive. It is a great base for exploring the area, Antica Torre del Borgo added the max value to our Tuscan roadtrip. Loved it!!
The hotel has a fantastic location as part of a walled village at the top of a hill. The views from our room and from the patio where we had dinner and breakfast had exceptional views. Dinner at the hotel was delicious and reasonably priced. Our room was large, quiet and thoroughly modern. Staff was friendly and the manager was helpful and informative.
Absolutely superb, the attention to detail is incredible. From the bedside charging point,to the retractable washing line in the shower cubicle, this is a host that knows what a traveller wants.
Certaldo was only a stop to catch the train TBH, but what a sweet little old town and the museum is superb.
Certainly worth half a day on your itinerary.
I think that I can sum up our time there in one sentence: everything meets our requirements and even exceeds them :) That was wonderful time with my family. The apartment was beautifully furnished, clean and has all the necessary accessories. Certaldo is also great place to visit another famous places in Tuscany via Train or car.
The location is perfect for short trips throughout Tuscany. Perfect ammenities for long trips such as washing machine, dishwasher and a very complete kitchen.
The pool was great for the hotter days and it has good sitting area.
The house itself is comfortable and spacious, ideal for 2 couples for example.
The hotel is historic but the rooms and bathrooms are renovated to high standards of comfort and were very clean. The hotel has the best terrace location to watch the sunset, and is right next to the funicular.
Staff were super friendly and kind
A beautiful family-owned agriturismo in the Tuscan landscape. Beautiful views, and from a walkable distance to Certaldo Alto. I received a wine from the agriturismo as a welcome gift. The family was very hospitable. Definitely recommend :)!
The charm of staying in a medieval building. We loved the decorating of the rooms. Everything was super clean. We loved being in the heart of Certaldo and right around the corner from a great restaurant that Sasha recommended.
The Views are great, very nice restaurants in close proximity. Location in between Sienna, Florence and the coast. Everything easy to reach. The roads are tiny but that is a given.
The wine is really good!
Excellent service, very warm and comfortable room, perfect location and delicious breakfast. The most beautiful place to stay in certaldo, we couldn’t recommend it more!
