- Location: 2 minute walk from Vatican; 3 from Castel Sant'Angelo, 10 from heart of Trastevere (taxi back at night was aprox 14 euros) - Accessibility: easily reachable by public transport (bus and metros)....not that you need it unless going to ariport/trans station; great access if you are coming by car, with relative ease of parking (by Roman standards) cost is 1Euro/hr in blue lines -Breakfast: by italian standards, aside from cereals and yogurt, they offered a good selection of savory (hard boiled eggs, ham, cheese) and sweet (croissants in all the varitions of fillings-chocolate, jam-custards; italian donuts; fried sweet breas filled with jam or custard etc); the coffee pot with unlimited refill is available, but that is filter coffee; alternatively you can ask for a real italian coffee (espresso, macchiato, cappuccino etc etc) but limited to 1. -staff: there was only 1 girl and she was as cordial as humanly possibly considering the crowds, seeing as breakfast is served in an actualy caffe'bar, and is always full of locals poppoing in for a coffee or pastry before heading to the office -rooms: quite tiny but honestly, you do not head to Rome to stary in your room! The bed was comfortable, the room was clean; the bathroom was a bit in need of a re-fresh (only point that gave me pause when I first entered). But it IS clean. As already mentioned by many other guests: finding the hotel is near impossible (and I thought other reviews were exagerating). The hotel and the dependance have been carved out from 1800-1900 period buildings; it is situated in a residential area and has maintained the look of the area. Which is fine only there are no plaques explaining where on earth you can check in. Ring the residential intercom for a while and eventually someone will come over and pick you up, or better yet: cross the street to the caffe'restaurant...the reception is adjoining and its all owned by same person.

The rooms have enough space, hotel location is really excellent, the staff is helpfull, breakfast is a good buffet The confusing location of the reception, it was not in the actual address, but on the other side of the street without any visible info. The promised wi-fi was not working in all rooms (I was moved to another room after complaining). For two mornings there was no tea or butter ailable at breakfast. All these are small but annoying things.

The location was spot on for visiting the Vatican and associated tourist attractions. The atmosphere of the place has charm and feels more like home than hotel.. The was no facility in the rooms to make tea or coffee.

Clean comfortable room. Friendly and helpfull staff. Room good and comfortable. Very near the Vatican City. A bit far from middle of city. Selling tourist bus tickets of bus service that only have 2 busses on route, and the earphones did not work. I will not advise anyone to buy this package at the reception. Rather choose your own tourist bus.

Location is perfect if the Vatican is your primary site to visit. And it is close to major bus routes and a Metro station. Continental breakfast is good. Doorways to rooms and shower are much smaller width than standard hotels. No English TV news on the cable offerings.

Comfortable, small room. Good for two people. Staff was extremely helpful and when I was unable to find the hotel, the staff member came out to the street to assist. Hard location to find. 3rd floor and no markings for the hotel. You have to check in across the street beside a cafe, very subtle hotel markings.

This is my second stay and it was just overnight. A lot less stressful checking in this time as we knew where to find reception.

It was in a good position. Close to restaurants, the Vatican and the metro was a quick walk away The only blight was on our arrival. We booked the transfer from the airport to the accommodation. The taxi driver dropped us off in the right place, but that's not reception. Reception is across the road at the rendezvous. We didn't know that. We had no mobile phone and only for a friendly shop assistant did we find reception. 1 1/2 hours after getting out of the taxi. Very stressful start to our holiday

Excellent location. No signage on street front aside a small plaque with an intercom next to it, check-in handled by the cafe across the road. Was given a room in the "Deluxe" hotel, a different building around the corner from Les Chambres d'Or.

I liked the fact that the hotel was in an area near shopping and restaurants. It was also near the Vatican and the subway. They offered a shuttle pick up to and from the airport or Rome's Termini Station was worked out well as we had a group of 6 and it was hard to get around by taxi. I felt that the first day was great but by the second day I felt that there was no communication between the reception staff and trying to call the other members of our group was not the best as we we were in different buildings. But I did feel secure. On the first day in the late evening, I discovered a "bed bug" and I tore apart the bedding and found another so I immediately contacted the front desk to advise them and they switched us to a room with a single bed where my friend and I had to share. My friend was possibly not returning the next day and so I left the key with the front desk in case she had to return and I again spoke with reception to see if they had known about the bed bug and suggested they fumigate the room and not ket anyone stay there, but it only fell to deaf ears because that same night they had someone else using the room. I confirmed because my friends were in the next room. This made me quite uncomfortable and made me feel as if they did not care. I took pictures of the Bed Bugs....Yuk!!!

The location The room size. The poor quality bedding. The 'free' coffee in the morning and fact breakfast did not include expresso or other cafe drinks. Did not like being charged extra for such things.

I loved the character of the building we stayed in, it is an old apartment block, with a rickity caged lift adding to the atmosphere of the building. The room was spotless, the bed clean and comfortable and the bathroom, modern and bright, was also spotless. Breakfast was basic but satisfying and was served in a small restraunt just across the street. We dined here most evenings and were given a 10% discount as residents. The staff were very friendly. The Hotel is a short walk from Vatican City and is a good tourist base. I can only say that my experience as a guest at Les Chambres d'or added to my enjoyable visit to Rome.

Good situation near the Vatican city and quite close to all the city centre, whether walking or by bus/metro. Comfortable room, big enough for 2 people. It was good value for money and if you know what to expect when you arrive, you won't be disappoined. It's better to go early to have breakfast if you want to have the choice before everything is eaten. We had some trouble understanding how the air conditionning works, maybe it only works at some specific hours of the day.

friendly helpful staff. rooms where excellent and very clean... 7 minute walk to the vatican and 5 minutes to the Sistine chaple.... 3 minute walk to the metro taking you downtown Rome. Quite walkable to almost everywhere... all and all an excellent 5 days spent with them... try their restaurant it is good. several others in the neighbourhood also very good.... upon arrival we rang the bell but got no answer. Had to ask a shop keeper where the hotel lobby was.... Across the street at the Rondevous cafe.... Once found all went well. They may want to put up a sign noting where to go upon arrival we met another couple with the same problem on their arrival.
