The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!
Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.
Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.
For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.
Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

I didn't even want to leave, and wish I would've extended my trip. The people here are so respectful, the public transportation is the most efficient I've ever ridden, the culture is very in both food and values, and the areas all seem built around the natural environment. I was able to take the bullet train from my hotel in Meguro, to Osaka for a Universal Studios trip, and back in the same day. That's roughly a 450 mile trip there and back plus a theme park. To me it's a beautiful blend of the modern world and nature just being out there. I plan on moving or retiring here. I loved going to different hole in the wall restaurants that were pretty well known, my favorite being Ichiran Ramen near Shibuya Crossing. The only thing I would avoid is trying to do too much in 1 week, as I walked 35 miles at the end of a 9 day trip. But I barely scratched the surface of all Tokyo has to offer, let alone Japan as a whole. I'll be making another trip this winter.

There are so many things to do and everything is quite spaced out. Choose what you want to do, find out where they are locates and try do a loop rather than back and forward. Food is sooooo cheap. Google maps is your best friend when it comes to navigating what trains you need to catch.

Love this city. There were so sooo much to explore. Apart from having stunning landmark spots like Sensoji temple, major shopping districts like Shinjuku and Shibuya, there are so many more hidden gems. I recommend checking out Shimokitazawa, Daikanyama and Ueno as well. Although the city is EXTREMELY busy, transportation is easy with the help of Google maps. Language might be a barrier, but to be honest, I find that to be the charm of Japan

It’s a great place to visit with so much to do especially if you like good food and enjoy the lively vibe. There is no bad meal in Japan. Can walk to so many places in each location and the subways are so efficient. It connects well to the trains and buses so well if you want to travel to different parts of Japan.

Tokyo exceeded expectations.
Tokyo exceeded expectations. Transport to get around is so easy and efficient. Everywhere is so clean. Ginza was a great area as was Asakusa and Ueno. Shinjuku and Shibuya were a bit of a let down or maybe just not our thing. Eat local in the Ramen shops you can't go wrong. Although a further out of Tokyo we can highly recommend Yokohama and Kamakura. Easy day out on the train. Ueno zoo was also good and cheap to get in.

I was a bit nervous about visiting Tokyo, as it is a huge city in a country that I do not speak the language. After arrival, I quickly got over this. Though it is big, the public transit system is very easy to navigate and very efficient (get a suica card!). Most signage is in Japanese and English, I did not find language to be a barrier at all.
The city itself is amazing. There are amazing temples, parks and museums. The food was good. The shopping was great.
I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. Though not inexpensive, the prices for nearly everything were much better than compared to big cites in the USA.
We went on day trips to Mt Fuji and Hakone. Unfortunately, Mt Fuji was hidden by clouds. I would advise skipping the cable car and boat rides at Hakone if Mt Fuji is not visible, this was not a good use of our time. Definitely check out an onsen at Hakone.
Our favorite park was Shinjuku Goya and favorite temple was Senso-Ji.
The hotel is surely a value for money. Its in a great place, prefer it more than Shinjuku or Shibuya, the train station of Chiyoda line is 3 minutes away on foot and the Ginza line is 10 minutes away on foot. Gives you a lot of options for great places to spend time during the night and also every tourist place in Tokyo is near you so you can spend less money for a great hotel that gives you comfort on roaming the Kanto region easily! The hotel gives you everything to cover your needs. Fantastic place with great rooms! Wont be dissapointed!!!
It is located very near the Shinjuku New South Gate exit. The Yamamoto line is accessible from there. My husband and I had an easy time going to the tourist spots in Tokyo because of this. The airport limousine also picks up and drops passengers in front of the hotel. So location is perfect. The breakfast buffet is also very good - coffee was good;’tea was plenty. There also very good restaurants near it and not necessarily Japanese. Also Family Mart. All in all, the hotel was perfect for new visitors like us.
Akasaka is a brilliant place to stay. Beautiful little area of Tokyo that has a convenient subway station down the street and fantastic restaurants and bars etc. We liked that it had everything we needed but it was quieter but with great access to the nearby hotshots of Shibuya and Shinjuku. This hotel is modern and clean and the staff were lovely. Loved the pyjama's and it was well priced in comparison to other similar hotels in Japan. We would stay again.
I'm so used to staying in hotels in the center of tokyo that I forgot how much more space I can get for a fraction of the price just an additional 5-10 minutes away from the busy areas. Walking to the train station was a breeze and there are plenty of food options and convenience stores just a stone throw away. The rooms were extremely big from what I was used to and the prices can't be beat. It made me feel like I had a home away from home.
My husband and I booked this hotel for our honeymoon. Location was excellent and very near to Nihonbashi metro station as well as Tokyo station, making it convenient to transport our luggages to take the Shinkansen and Narita express. There were a few convenience stores nearby thus is was easy buy foods/snacks for breakfast/supper. As a nice gesture, they even provided complimentary sparkling sake as we were on our honeymoon!
The location of this hotel is right beside Shinjuku station - which has excellent transport links to the rest of Tokyo. The staff are warm and friendly, and are more than happy to help you with everything you need.
The capsules are great! more than enough room to stretch out inside, and the facilities on offer at the hotel are top notch. The artificial onsen is great to soak in after a long day of travelling Tokyo!
We loved our stay here, it is one of our favourite stays in Japan. We will definitely book again in the future. We loved the amenities, it had a lot more than usual hotels had which made our stay comfortable. My husband was working a few days with meetings and the room was spacious and quiet enough to do so. The staff was great, they noticed our lock was out of batteries, had came right away to replace the battery.
The location is nice for exploring Tokyo. It's about a 10 minute walk to several metro and train stations. The bed was comfy and was a joy to come back to at the end of a long day adventuring. They provide pretty much everything you need with bathroom toiletries and even have earplugs if another guest is being loud. There are also western-style showers too. In some other capsule hotels, the showers are communal.
Perfect location, 1 min walk to Oedo line Higashi Shinjuku, 12 min walk to JR Shinjuku, can easily get to anywhere by train or bus.
Also, the room is quite clean. Even besides a main road in downtown, the inside is quiet once the door is closed. The queen bed is soft.
I booked this room for my family to stay. They are satisfied with the fully equipped desgin. The hotel provide every utensils needed.
The breakfast selections at the hotel were really good, they accommodated both my husband and I with having savoury and sweet options, the room was really big as well which I wasn’t expecting so we were really happy about that as we had quite a few bags, staff were always incredibly kind, I wish we had stayed longer than we did - will 100% be booking here again when we come back for another holiday.
Perfect location for enjoying Sakura as the hotel grounds had beautiful gardens, water features, lit up trees and decoration for the Sakura season. It was so stunning - both on the ground level and view from the rooms.
Location is a bit far from the main busy areas of Shinjuku abd Shibuya but easy to get to thr train and go any which direction.
Japanese breakfast buffet was lovely too.
The location is fantastic, close to both a metro and the larger shinjuku station which is perfect for getting around if you're a tourist in Tokyo. Less than 50m away there is a Michelin starred ramen place where a bowl only sets you back $10. Has a bath tub in room and an onsen in the hotel. They provide lots of complimentary toiletries including razors, hair bands and towels.
Hotel Royal Park is the BEST HOTEL of all the hotels and place that we stayed in !!💜❤️♥️. It’s in between of everything , trains station, restaurants, coffee shops , hotels … you name everything is within our reach!! LOVE LOVE IT 😍. I think when going back to Tokyo for weekend get away… Royal park hotel is the kind of hotel that you want to keep going back to stay in .
Lovely, clean, well facilitated rooms. very small however it will be the same everywhere in Tokyo, for us it was perfect. The staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was good for the price you pay. Much cheaper than UK prices at hotels. Location is good, 15 minute walk max to Shinjuku station. 7 11 3 minutes walk.
This hotel serves the best service and best room for my stay in Tokyo. I had been at another 2 hotels in Shibuya and Shinjuku but Richmond Hotel is the best. lobby is at the 5th floor and there are uniqlo and other food store downstairs. JR and Metro station is just in walking distance. Free VOD for you to enjoy.
A brilliant location. Shinjuku is great to explore with plenty of shopping, restaurants and night life. The hotel is close to the main train station and near a beautiful park and a lovely shrine. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was varied and good quality.
Authentic Tokyo experience. TV was equipped with Amazon Prime and Netflix (for some reason hotels don’t have that). The host also was kind enough to give us a personal tour around Shinjuku to show us some spots we missed on our last visit here.
Nice quiet location next to Chuo Park with a great bakery at the front of the hotel for breakfast. Easy to get to Shibuya via the bus and there’s a Family Mart just down the road.
Great location near to Shinjuku station. The hotel has many facilities including multiple restaurants, shops etc. Rooms are good but compact, as per most other Tokyo hotels
