Hotel Carris Porto Ribeira, hotel in Porto

Located in Porto’s Ribeira district, this 4-star hotel is located in a refurbished, historic building overlooking the Douro River. It offers air-conditioned accommodations with free Wi-Fi.

The front desk was so good about directions, referrals, and anything I might have a difficulty with!’ My room was small, but I loved the light of the floor and balcony! And everything I needed fit into the room. I liked the nearness to bus and Uber was quickly available!!

The people were open, friendly and courteous. There seemed to be less stress than we have experienced in other cities and this was very apparent on the roads. We never felt ill at ease. The level of English is exceptional. The range and quality of foods is very good with something for everyone. The old centre is astonishingly small, so much can be done comfortably on foot but with much climbing: the city is built on a steep hillside but there is an excellent funicular.

We come from South Africa and flew to Porto to do a pilgrim's Camino from Valenca to Santiago de Compostela and visited again after finishing our pilgrimage. The boat on the river was my best place to visit. The salad and beer at the restaurant on the riverside was excellent. We ate at a Arty coffee shop in the main shopping street around the corner of the premises we stayed. Friendly staff. We walked where we wanted to be. The people in most of the shops don't understand English so much. We are form South Africa, where our second language is English. That is a bit difficult. Google translate helped. Sightseeing red bus - waste of money.

Porto is a beautiful city with lots of sightseeing opportunities. Ideally enjoyed our guided cycle tour with Artur definitely worth booking as you get to learn lots about the city while enjoying the fantastic scenery. Wonderful city, people are very friendly, can walk around easily to monuments, restaurants, wine tasting, street cars. The city has steep steps back and forth from the river, so need for gyms to get your cardiac exercise done. There are cheap Uber or taxis if you need to get back up if necessary

I loved my room! It was like walking into a little oasis. I enjoyed the relaxing area with the sofa and TV with Netflix, the free mini-bar, and the great shutters on the windows that made my room quiet and dark for sleeping and all the special touches that made it like a little apartment away from home. It was all so much more than I expected and will make it my destination whenever I return to Porto. The staff also was super friendly and accommodating. Thank you for making my last days in Portugal and the Camino Portuguese so relaxing!

Great little boutique hotel within old-town Porto, Portugal, convenient to many of Porto's must see charms. We were offered an unexpected junior suite upgrade upon arrival. The king bed was very comfortable, along with the robes / slippers. The artsy room decor was upbeat and inviting. The morning full breakfast buffet was delicious, as well as the expresso and coffee lattes we enjoyed on a daily basis. Very friendly professional staff, especially the helpful personalized attention received from hotel management.

The "house" is situated in a quet, residential area. It is in close proximity to the Metro, groceries, cafes, and restaurants. As it is far enough away from the tourist zone, restaurants are more reasonably priced. The house comes equipped with all the basic amenities. The shower has to be the best we had in all our stay in Portugal. It has a rain shower head and provides adequate water pressure and hot water. In addition, the hosts were very quick to respond to a couple of minor issues.

The location obviously. The Lonely Planet Porto walk runs right by/through the property. 3 of Trip Advisor’s top 10 restaurants are within a 1 minute—yes that’s right— walk and 5 more within 10 minutes. The Casas are small apartment units with oven, cooktop, microwave, hot water kettle etc, approx 70 sq m. Best wifi we’ve found in Portugal. The managers provide a de facto concierge service (including stocking the fridge) and are fantastically personable and efficient. A great, great find

The situation was a little bit unusual because I rent the room just per one night to a old guy I don't knew... Hey just needed somewhere to stay till his medical appointments in the other day (Mr. Luis is from Bragança, a far away village from Portugal). It was Sunday, everywhere we tried was already full then I booked this room. The staff is very nice and don't discriminated the old guy (what I was afraid about). Nice room, very clean and very well lighted! I truly recommend! :)

It was our first check-in process (out of 4) in Portugal and it was seamless. We used some Portuguese and some English and it was fine. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, huge variety from 0 carb to max carb, vegan/veggie to carnivore. Best of all was the location; it was pretty much central to everything we did in Porto and exiting the front door takes you on to a pedestrian only street with shops and cafes that is almost always streaming with people.

What a place to stay in! It's probably the best hotel I have stayed in Portugal, if we take into account the cost-benefit ratio. Every aspect in this hotel was excellent: the employees service and courtesy, the state of the art rooms, the wifi reception (the best I have experienced for years), the rich and varied breakfast, and its main location in the city. I will certainly recommend this lovely hotel for all of my acquaintances. 10/10

Friendly staff, great location to stroll around the city center, offers a lot of services (restaurant, leaving luggage at a hotel desk). Despite the generally high humidity level in Portugal in winter, the room in Yotel was very warm and dry. Keep in mind that the shower/toilet are not located in a separate room, but separated from the bedroom by a frosted glass shield. Not a problem for us, but good to know.
