I think Cortona lacks out door eating and calling cafes ....mind you I did visit in January but other cities have outdoor heaters so that visitors or even locals can enjoy sitting out on clear sunny but cold days. Not much option if any if you are wanting to eat between 3 and 8pm ... but finding most places in Italy in the small historical towns are the same. So make sure you either have a late breakfast or stop in time to get some lunch in! :)))

It is a very beautiful medieval city close at the border of Tuscany and Umbria. It is definitely not an easy walk city as there are not so many flat streets. But it is worth it!
From Piazza Garibaldi, you could have a very nice view to Tuscany.
You find few parking lots around the city but from there you need to walk few stairs to actually get in to the city.
The italian ice cream, of course, is unbeatable. I can also recommend Cortona Bistrot. I think I have eaten there one of the best tiramisu.
The city is worth for couple of days' visit but the surroundings are also very nice (e.g. Lake Trasimeno).

The food, the view, the feel of history, I loved Cortona.
The food, the view, the feel of history, I loved Cortona. Cortona is very small, I came in once during a three day stay. Considering that it was 50 euro to drive in to town I would have only came back in for another dinner if I was with a group. Be ready to walk uphill! I walked all the way to the top and then made my way down to eat. Sadly I can’t remember the name of the restaurant I went to but it was tiny with a family feel and the food was incredible

Beautiful, romantic, old place!
Beautiful, romantic, old place! An ideal experience - away from the crowds and chaos of top destinations like Florence, but at the same time providing every element of romantic and beautiful Tuscany and ancient Italy in general!
Simply amazing from the moment you step through the door right up to when you leave. The two girls, Julia and Susanna on the front desk couldn’t do enough for us and enjoyed the recommendations for restaurants they provided.
The rooms are beautiful and I had some incredible rest in the comfortable bed.
Breakfasts in the morning are a feast of supreme quality.
One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Hope to be back and sad to have left
Location of this Bed and Breakfast is the very best. Jeroen, the owner of Casa Dreosti was the best of the best. He was extremely helpful in every regard and became a great friend. We actually stayed an extra three days due to airline difficulties where again Jeroen came through for us. Cortona is a wonderful village and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The building was renovated with great perfection.
It’s only a short drive to the historic village Cortona.
Having Dinner at Villa di Piazzano is a unique experience which should not be missed. The chef not only prepares a great dinner, also breakfast is great.
Staff is super friendly and everybody can speak english.
The barista prepares perfect cappuccino.
Family run property, provided the basic amenities we were seeking without the fuss. No breakfast offered, but daily bread, pastries, and pizza delivery was available from a local bakery. The location worked well for us, we were able to minimize drive time to about an hour to Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino, and Cortona.
Central location, two-minute walk from Cortona main square. Extremely helpful lady in charge (Google Translate necessary for English, but she's adorable). First ever perfect, stable WiFi in Italy :) Good heating, suitable for my November trip, this was not always the case at other locations.
Overall, a fantastic hotel, by far the best value-for-money proposition in the area. Location is spectacular, on top of a hill, gifted with a spectacular view on the Trasimeno Lake (great historical venue). Breakfast was more than adequate for the price. Staff extremely polite and friendly.
Nice, clean and comfortable apartment. Very well decorated with smart solutions for everything, spectacular view, quiet area and good matresses. Simona was extremely helpful. Definetely recommended! Cortona is amazing place like almost everything in Tuscany.
Fantastic boutique hotel just outside of Cortona. It is a 15 minute walk in to town, but it’s worth it for the views, peace and quiet, and of course the pool! Silvia and the staff also couldn’t have been more accommodating or friendly. We will be back!
Fantastic staff! They were very helpful in making a few changes. Great location hotel was in the center of Cortona. Very easy to get around as many restaurants were near by. Breakfast was good, enough choices. We would definitely return.
Jeroen was an amazing host and went out of his way to ensure we our stay in Cortona was a memorable experience. His knowledge of the town and Tuscany enriched our stay there. Special mention to his house dogs Judy and Lucy
Location was very close to the town center and the apartment was updated with most everything one would need while in Italy. Having an ice-maker and coffee pot made our parents who were in tow very happy.
Sara was a spectacular host the accommodated our every wish and need. She has created a magical hotel experience to complement the exceedingly Tuscan experience of Cortona. Bravissimo!
Lovely home in the old city and close to everything you need. The classic beams, the modern touches were perfect for a comfortable stay. Beautiful place, stellar Cortona!
A comfortable, well equipped apartment in the heart of Cortona. Close to major attractions, restaurants and shopping. Very good communication with the owner.
The old monastery kept its charm and authenticity. It is a fabulous place, with a spacious yard and a pool. The city of Cortona is a hidden gem in Tuscany!
