St Austell is a run down and neglected town hard to navigate and not much to see. Charlestown is a delightful harbor with a good choice of restaurants and bars a bit of a shame that the harbor is being worked on but it has to be done. Then further south you have Pentewan a beautiful beach within a holiday complex lots of activities for the little ones and a good beach cafe.

We wanted to visit the Eden project.

We wanted to visit the Eden project. This was the main reason for our visit. However there is a lot to do in this area especially when the weather is good. We visited Looe area. We would have liked to visit some of the lovely gardens in this area. We wish we had stayed another couple of days.

The location, garden, ambience and tranquility is awesome. The fact that I was likened to one of the cottage tea shop staff by an elderly caucasian male who presumably was a guest because of the colour of my dark skin wasn't pleasant at all.

St Austell encompasses a vast array of villages both in land and coastal so a blanket review of 'St Austell' is meaningless. St Austell town has all the amenities you would need but cannot be said to be pretty. However the numerous coastal villages and country house and Eden Project make the area a good base. Just dont bother with the town itself except for supermarkets.

Visited Par Market; Redruth; The Eden Project; Mevagissey; Truro; Charlestown; Carlyon Bay; Bodmin and Cornwall Gold Every meal was superb, especially in the local pubs. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Clearly regeneration is needed in some of the towns as there are many empty commercial properties

Great location. Short walk to beach, down from the cliff top. Longer but pleasant walk (30 mins) to the harbour village of Charlestown. Good mixture of activities. Nice outside pool with warm water, perfect for a sunny day. Inside pool and jacuzzi for colder days. Sauna and steam room. Quiet, clean, upmarket hotel with lots of older couples here for the golf course. Lovely views from the bedroom window. I didn't have a car but used the same taxi firm to take me to the impressive Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project.

The staff were super friendly right from when we first walked in we were greeted with cheery hello’s and asked if we needed a hand with our bags. The views from the hotel were stunning overlooking the sea and the room was clean, sheets and towels fresh and smelt clean. The hotel is in a good position with walking distance to Carlyon beach with is amazing! The beach also has facilities too , a few bars and pop up restaurants for burgers pizzas etc. parking at the hotel is good lots of space.
