A vibrant city with so many attractions worth visiting and enjoying. The locals are so polite and helpful it makes tourng around the city so much esier. Unfortunately many others love Kyoto as well and the crowds at key attractions can be duanting I feel for the locals trying to go about their daya to day activities in amongst so many tourists.

Smaller than Tokyo, Kyoto offers more Temples, shrines and gardens with less travel. Use of local buses in recommended, although busy, the fix price, 230yen, makes for good value. Southern Tori gates can be reached on the train. A great area, but long pull to the top for not a great deal of return. Maybe stop at the viewpoints.

Kyoto Castle, Golden Pavilion and Silver Pavilion worth seeing and walking back down the Philosophers Path. Pontocho area by the river is atmospheric, Gion Corner (show) was enjoyable.
However, the Higashiyama area between Kodai-ji and Kiyomizu-dera was chock full of tour groups when we visited one afternoon. Maybe a very early morning or evening visit would be better.

4 days in Kyoto was enough for us to explore the city. We loved the temples, matcha houses, old streets of Kyoto, restaurants, and the area with the houses near the bamboo forest. Definitely worth visiting!

Kyoto is an amazing city, and well-connected to other cities/towns in Kansai area. It is a bit crowded due to tourism but if the crowds are too much, simply take a day trip to the mountains and nature around! We really enjoyed Arashiyama area, and the town of Uji (the town of matcha/tea)!

Nice place to visit if interested in taking a short or long walks. They have so many shrines and Temples. Kyoto have good shopping malls and restaurants that cater for all budgets. Lovely place to visit. Highly recommended.
One of the best hotels we have stayed in. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and location was perfect - very short walk to Kyoto station with buses at the eastern side of the station also. Best value for money of all the hotels we stayed in and they offer a free welcome drink each night. There is a free washing machine and we were able to dry clothes on the balcony rather than use the dryer. The restaurant and bar area is lovely and the staff are very helpful. The 711 close by is great for snacks and drinks.
This place honestly felt like luxury and was one of the best priced hostels we stayed at in Japan. New, modern facilities with plenty of space and very comfy beds. The rooms are small but fit us just fine and for the price they were a steal. There’s luggage storage downstairs if you don’t want your bag in your room, and free comfy loungewear you can wear around the hotel between showers & the bathroom. The staff was very professional and kind Loved it & would recommend!
The hotel is beautifully decorated so guests really get an authentic Japanese experience. The private baths are very soothing! They can get busy but the wait time isn’t too bad. The hotel also provides little freebies like a morning drink, evening time noodles and tea. The matcha latte is the best! A huge plus is that the hotel is right next door to the train station. My husband and I loved our stay and we wish we could have has a longer stay.
Seriously best hotel we booked in all of Japan, and we booked 3 before this. Staff went the extra extra mile, very clean and authentic Japanese experience. It was also the biggest hotel we've been to. Location was good from the station, to the main shopping district is a little far but overall amazing experience. If you don't mind travelling like 20 minutes by bus to the shopping district (we didnt) then it's phenomenal location
We enjoyed everything about it and extended our stay !! The location is amazing, the best actually !! There's everything around you from all sorts of stores (2 min walk) , Rail station (10-15 min walk), bus stop (10 min walk).. The hotel is clean, spotless, and easy to get in and outbwith codes. I recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to stay in Kyoto! Thank you, M's Hotel staff . See you next time! Arigato guzaimasu 🙏🏻
This team exceeded my expectations. What a gorgeous hotel, lobby and room. We loved our stay in the comfort room. Honestly; this was our best stay during our 14-day holiday in Japan. The metro station is within 100 meters from te hotel and the nice team at Rakuro arranged a bike-rental for us, they brought us the bikes at the hotel. Many thanks for the nice team, making our stay the best! We hope to return some day.
They have a Service Center very near to Kyoto Station for guests who want an early check in or check out. They provide free luggage transportation facility to and from hotel. Free limitless coffee was the best part of the service in winters. Train museum, Aquarium and Kyoto Tower are very nearby. Halal food options can be reached through bus near Kawaramachi there is a Bengali restaurant called Mabrur Halal Dining.
I can’t say enough good things about this property. I was able to utilize the new year promotion plan they had going on and ended up staying for 10 days at this hotel. This was the best of all the 4 hotels I stayed at while visiting Japan. Close to Kyoto Station, with food shops right out front. Washing and drying machines are on site. It was a big room and great value at the price I got it at.
The bathroom was exceptional very beautifully designed. The room was clean and quite. The bathroom products were excellent as was the tea. Also the breakfast is a must include. It is one of the best buffets I have ever had. Both traditional American, European and Japanese breakfast was offered. It is about a 10 walk from the train station and a straight walk to hotel with no turns.
The room was very clean and modern and exceeded my expectations. Having the toilet in a separate room from the shower/vanity is an added luxury you don't always see in such affordable hotels in Japan. Even with a full-size couch, the room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is right next to a subway station, but we opted to walk most of the time since the area is so lovely.
This location was brilliant. Directly above the Kyoto Station. This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were second to none. On arrival we had issues with our SIM and the concierge was so helpful. She made many phone calls and was able to fix our problem.
The bed was so comfortable. The buffet breakfast was extensive. We will definitely return!!
Fantastically located in a quiet alley but short walking distance to main shopping area, subway, Gion district, Nishiki market. Lots of great little restaurants and shops nearby.
Hotel is new, aesthetically designed and advanced in technology.
Room is on the bigger side in Japanese standard.
Best jacuzzi shower you could ever have!
Free breakfast is also a nice bonus
Traditional ryokan hotel with onsens.
Very close to station, easy walk & opposite large Buddhist temple complex. The opportunity to enjoy a traditional dinner was not to be missed in a private dining room, served by the cook who had taken 2 hours to prepare it. The use of translate app gave us the information we needed.
Very well located next to Kyoto Station (main transport hub), nice area of city with lots of places to shop and eat, and convenient to take underground, trains, or buses to major sites. Hotel offers two types of breakfast, Japanese or Western. The Japanese breakfast is definitely best in my opinion.
It takes about 13 minutes to get to the hotel from Kyoto station which is quite convenient. The staff does a great job to help you with my requests to keep our luggage pre-checkin and post-checkout, and they also helped arranging a taxi for us. They are the best part of my stay in the hotel.
The best part of the hotel was the location to so many great food places and how close it was to the subway station as well. It was really nice to be able to take a break throughout the day and stop by our hotel to take refuge in the air conditioning.
Best place we have stayed at while travelling around Japan. The rooms are a decent size, it’s a beautiful hotel in a very good location close to Gion and train stations. Fabulous breakfast including wagyu steak!
Good location, 2 minutes to Kyoto station. The breakfast was the best from all our stays in Japan. Complements to the hotel staff working in the kitchen!
best hotel I’ve stayed at ever. great space for families and excellent location next to train station, multiple restaurants, mall and convenience stores
