The hotel was close to public transportation, so it was easy to get around. The room was comfortable, very clean, and huge, especially for a solo traveler (or at least compared to what I'm used to in Japan). I ate breakfast at the hotel's restaurant on the first morning I arrived because it was before other shops in the area opened. The breakfast buffet was delicious and fresh. The staff were the best part by far, though. 10s across the board. Everyone I interacted with was incredibly friendly and helpful but one staff in particular went above and beyond to help me (gave perfect directions, helped me download the transport app and tickets, googled things for me, etc.). Would definitely recommend to others or consider staying here again in the future.

This is a great design hotel in a very good location, just a few minutes from the central Esplanade where you have lots of interesting shops, eateries and the harbour. Our room was large divided into 4 areas. a very comfortable sitting area, convenient working area, bedroom area with a king bed and the dressing area with two closets and drawers. Everything is well thought out. Such as the little bench at the entrance to take the shoes off. Lighting system was very good with various controls it is possible to achieve desired level of brightness. We like the room a bit more dark and cozy, this could be achieved easily. Bathroom lights were very good. There was a low light operated by a movement sensor in the bathroom. This light wasn't;t strong to wake you up from your sleep but light up the bathroom immediately upon walking in. In the bathroom too, there were lots of convenient little details. Breakfast was good. The area where breakfast served was again nicely designed and very pleasant to be in. Food choice and quality was good.

The historical building made this hotel very interesting. I especially like how they kept some ex prison cells for exhibit. The hotel room itself has high ceiling and is bigger than other hotel rooms we stayed at in Helsinki. What really shone was the staff, everyone was friendly and very helpful! They also provide 2 meals and 1 afternoon tea included in your hotel price. If I had known that earlier, I would’ve stayed the whole week here instead of Airbnb. 6 stars out of 5 for the service!

FAQs about hotels in Helsinki

Nordic Daughter of the Baltic

Scratch beneath the small-town surface of Helsinki and you will find a cosmopolitan metropolis buzzing with a lively attitude and plenty of excitement. The relatively short-lived summer offers the best chance to appreciate the outdoors and sit on one of the popular café terraces, or even hit the Hietaniemi Beach, all of which can be enjoyed during the 20 hours of daylight.

Strolling around the streets of Helsinki will reveal an Empire-style of architecture, comparable to St. Petersburg. The greatest example of this is the green-domed Lutheran Cathedral which rises proudly out of the center of Senate Square.

From here the main shopping street of Aleksanterinkatu, affectionately known as Aleksi, runs towards Mannerheimintie and contains the largest department store in Scandanavia, called Stockmann. The up-market boulevard of Esplanadi runs alongside and is packed with exclusive boutiques.

Lovers of Nordic design will be thrilled by the Design Museum and the Ateneum Art Museum. Nature is in abundance on the beautiful archipelago which lies along the coast. A must-see is the Baltic fortress of Suomenlinna, where you just might forget you’re in a big city.

Whether you head to a sauna or amusement park when you disembark from Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport, with over 65 hotels, apartments and hostels, Booking.com has the perfect place for your Scandinavian stay.

Absolutely beautiful, full of friendly people and lovely places to sightsee. So easy to get around. There is much to do, whether you like urban amenities or being in nature. It's all so close. Also, as a female I worry about safety. My (female) friend and I both felt very safe everywhere we went. My stay was too brief, and I look forward to visiting this lovely city again.

Helsinki was a beautiful (albeit a slightly expensive) city right by the Baltic Sea. The city center is very clean with really beautiful architecture (both modern and old times). While the single/day ticket might be relatively expensive in my opinion, everything there is by walking distance. Take a free walking tour to get to know Helsinki in a more personal level and I'd recommend you try the Reindeer (or Moose) meatball by the market place.

Helsinki is a very clean city, with a lot of green spaces, parks and islands. It offers different methods of transport (metro, buses, tram, ferries, trains) and has many great restaurants and cafes. Although one can say that it's not as breathtaking as other capitals in Central Europe, the architecture is amazing and the main attractions are very cool. But the highlight in Helsinki is of course the nature. I felt very safe throughout my stay and would love the return again one day and explore more areas.

The places to visit are actually well-known and all close to each other. You should buy daily tickets, but since ticket machines are not available everywhere, it’s recommended to get your ticket from the main train station. However, before getting on a tram, make sure you’re heading in the right direction, as there are no signs or labels inside trams or buses indicating the stops.

Helsinki is a friendly, peaceful and beautiful city, where everyone was open and kind. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to visit the city this time, but I still enjoyed the walk around the city center, the seaside atmosphere, the market, the Kiasma contemporary art museum and the Teurastamo district. Next time I would definitely spend 2-3 days there, because I would like to see the Finnish Parliament, the National Museum and several other attractions. I liked everything in Helsinki, I would love to come back here!

The public transport is very efficient and affordable especially the trams. Road works meant that hop on hop off buses could not follow their routes as intended, a shame. Get to the Sibelius monument and Rock Church early to avoid crowds. Kiasma is mind blowing, amazing art. The cathedral is a great place for calm reflection. There is some interesting architecture and best of all Suomenlinna, the fortified island. Free to enter, pay for any museums you want to visit, worth the cost. A good half day out, get the HSL (public ferry over, covered by tram and other transport tickets already purchased and then go back on the ferry bus from the other end of the island, a few Euros and a nice little trip.

Air conditioning was life saving in the heatwave! Super comfortable beds, excellent pillows, there were toiletries provided which smelled lovely. Black out curtains and sound proofed rooms made sleep so peaceful. Very good compact room with everything that you need. Breakfast had good choice and it was delicious. Easy to get to the hotel from the city center with a bus. Easy and convenient online check in. Felt very safe in the hotel as there were a lot of safety features in the hotel to avoid non hotel guests wondering around.

The Apartment is indeed very well connected with the public Transport System. With a few steps you can get to the Tram and Bus lines, but we didn't notice any traffic noise in the night. Even the metro is in comfortable walking Distance. On top of that there are many great Restaurants in the area wich are much cheaper that the ones in the City Center! Also the public Saunas in the area are much cozyer and more authentic than the ones in the City Center. The owner is very friendly and flexible, kind regards and many thanks!

Tidy, silent and cozy place. So cute boutique hotel at city center. Transportation from airport is very easy and comfortable with train and public bus no 600(takes about 45 minutes to central station). You should buy a daily HSL card(1,2,3 or 7 days up to your visit of Helsinki). A-B-C regional card is best and enough for tourists. You can use this card also for your visit to Suomenlinna Sea Fortress by boat.
